Hendrick Motorsports, new home of race car driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. announced on September19, 2007 that his new car number would be the number 88.
The number 88 was made officially announced as this Hendrick Motorsports’ race car drivers new number, in a much-anticipated press conference held by Hendrick Motorsports.
In related news, both the Army National Guard and Mountain Dew AMP Energy will be sponsoring Dale Earnhardt Jr.for the 2008 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series campaign, according to a press release by Hendrick Motor Sports.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. will be racing this car with the number 88, and new red design, for the first time at the NASCAR opening race in February 2008, in Daytona, Florida, Hendrick Motor Sports also announced.
As you may recall, announced he was leaving the racing company that was founded by his father, Dale Earnhardt Inc. At Dale Earnhardt Inc. Dale Earnhardt Jr. raced car number 8.
