Virginia Beach Beach Farmers Market
Located on the corner of Dam Neck & Princess Anne, the official address is 3640 Dam Neck Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23425.
Most merchants are open Monday thru Saturday 10 a.m. until 5 pm and Sunday Noon until 4 pm.
Seasonal, fresh vegetables and fruit are available year round. In addition there is an organic grocer, butcher shop, dairy store, flower, gift, candy and bakery shop.
County and Bluegrass music is featured April through October at the Friday Night Hoedown from 7 pm until 10 pm. On On Saturday nights there is a Classic Cruise In from 5 pm until 10 pm. On this night Classic Automobiles and motorcycles 25 years old and older cruise into the market.

Old Beach Farmers Market
OBFM is located in the parking lot on the corner of 19th and Cypress in Virginia Beach. It is held by Croc’s 19th Street Bistro. It is only six blocks from the oceanfront and one block from the Virginia Beach Visitor Center. There is free parking available across the street though walking and cycling are always encouraged.
The market is currently set to reopen May 2010. When it is running it is open Saturday Mornings.
OBFM carries the farmer market staples of fresh, locally grown, seasonal veggies and fruits along with a delicious selection of fresh baked goods and dips. Handmade jewelry, fresh flowers and goats milk soap are available from some vendors. A nice selection of Virginia wines is found here as well. If you like to garden or would like to start there are herbs for planting on sale.

Five Points Community Farm Market
5 Points is located at 2500 Church Street in Norfolk. It is 4 traffic lights South of the Virginia Zoo.
The market is open all year round Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 11 am until 7 pm. Saturdays it is open 9 am until 5 pm. The market will be re-opening for Sundays starting Sunday May 2nd, 2010. The market is closed Monday and Tuesday.
Along with seasonal fresh vegetables and fruits they recently added a new seafood vendor who will be offering fresh fish, scallops, crabs and more. Vendors also sell meats, dairy, baked goods, jams, pickled products, mushrooms, herbs & vinegars. Local honey, peanuts, organic coffee & teas; sauces, dips, salsas & marinades along with Smoked BBQ ribs & chicken along with local pottery and crafts are available as well.

Olde Towne Portsmouth Farmers Market
This market is located in the first of Middle Street between High and Queen Street. It is adjacent to the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame Museum.
The market is being expanded into a weekly venue this Spring of 2010. It will be open 9:30 am. until 1:30 pm.
Items on sale will range from seasonal produce to baked goods as well as flowers and plants.

Suffolk Farmers Market
This market is located at 162 Main street in Suffolk.
The market is open May through September 8 am to noon Wednesday through Saturday.
Items on sale vary from locally grown produce to fresh dairy, cut flowers and fresh baked goods

Make the experience of a visit to a farmers market the greenest it can be by walking or biking to get there. If that’s not convenient, no harm done. I have a toddler and our closest market is unfortunately over 10 miles away. That said, we do our part by bringing reusable cloth shopping bags with us on our trip.
