Habbo Hotel: The Newest Social Networking Site

Habbo Hotel is the newest social networking site to hit the Internet. How does Habbo Hotel or Habbo as it now called compare with other popular social networking sites like Myspace and Facebook?

Habbo Hotel’s main audience is teenagers. This is like most social networking sites but other sites like Myspace and Facebook also have a high amount of college students on as well and Habbo does not seem to have as large an older audience.

Habbo Hotel is a far cry from the regular social networking sites if you have ever used Disney’s VMK or Virtual Magic Kingdom then you should have a good idea what Habbo Hotel is about. Habbo is not based in the real world as much as it is based in a computer animated cartoony looking world.

Instead of using your actual picture and information you use an avatar. When you fist sign up you choose close, hair, skin color, etc for your new Habbo Hotel resident. This new avatar is how the Habbo Hotel virtual world will see you.

Also like VMK you get a room that you can purchase items to fill your room. The items are not as fun as VMK they are things like furniture while VMK you can build rides in your room. The other thing that is not as good about a Habbo Hotel room is that the items cost Habbo credits. Items on VMK cost too but you earn these in game and you do not buy them from Disney.

To get Habbo credits you need to buy the credits from Habbo. This is a difference between Habbo Hotel and the other social networking sites. VMK does not cost to buy credits, the other sites make money from their ads which Habbo Hotel also does but on top of add revenue they also make money from selling their credits and have you spend money on in game items and in house games. Facebook also have programs that you can buy and third parties offer free programs that you can use for Facebook as well. There are no third party Habbo Hotel programs though to help you make items.

For those who are business minded might think that there might be some profit to be made in trading items and credits. While there is a small market for rare items from the site it is not the best way to try to earn money. If you go to Ebay there are few items being sold on the site, Ebay Uk has more but is still limited. If you check for VMK items there is a much larger and active amount of selling on ebay and prices are much higher for VMK items.

Habbo Hotel is a lot more like VMK then other social networking sites. There is no site that you make with your information about you instead you have a room which you can let others enter or not. Other online social networkings do not have games except for Facebook but they play a minor role compared to Habbo Hotel. I think Habbo Hotel is likely to take even more of your time then other social networking sites and is mostly geared for the teenage crowd if you are over 18 I would avoid Habbo Hotel as a money pit.

There are supposedly cheats, glitches, hacks, and bots in the game that can be exploited to get you more credits, and items. If you are interested in this kind of thing I would suggest getting a fake account real quick then trying the various methods described online by going to google and youtube also has some movies that show how you are supposed to be able to do these hacks. You may get banned if you get caught so do this at your own risk.
