Gymboree Clothing: Buy Expensive Kids’ Clothes at Low Prices

Gymboree

Gymboree is a brand of children’s clothing that is very popular. Gymboree’s clothes are well-made and known for being adorable. Although many think it is worth the extra money, Gymboree clothes do tend to be very expensive. However, I dress my children in Gymboree clothes and have found several ways to purchase clothes at very reasonable prices.

1. Sign up for a Gymboree Visa card and immediately receive a gift card for $10. You will also receive 1% of all purchases back in the form of gift cards, and a 5% discount off all Gymboree merchandise. Signing up for a Gymboree Visa card will also make you eligible to receive periodic “Gymboree Friends” sales, good for up to 30% off an entire purchase.

2. Take advantage of Gymbucks. Several times per year Gymboree has a Gymbucks promotion. If you purchase $50 worth of Gymboree merchandise you will receive $25 in Gymbucks. After the time for earning Gymbucks has passed, there will be a week in which they can be spent. Having 25 Gymbucks gets you $25 worth of Gymboree merchandise free when you spend $25. There is no limit to the Gymbucks rewards, so $100 worth of Gymbucks can purchase $200 worth of merchandise for $100, which is a savings of 50%.

3. Buy nothing at retail price. Thursday is the day that Gymboree releases new merchandise, and the day they mark older merchandise on sale. Lines of clothing spend very little time selling at full price. Waiting a few weeks will generally save you at least 20%. After the initial markdown, additional markdowns will bring 40% or 60% savings. The problem with waiting for sales is that some Gymboree lines will be very popular, and certain sizes will sell out quickly. So, if you really want something and are afraid it will not be available for long, it is best to purchase it.

4. Search for Gymboree items on eBay. Many savvy Gymboree buyers sell their clothes on eBay for a profit at a price that is still lower than that found at a retail store. This is also a great way to get a bargain on lines that you love but could not find in your local Gymboree store.

5. Buy things at the end of the season. I recently went into a Gymboree store and purchased nearly all my son’s clothes for next winter. Granted, it is currently springtime but the clothes, shoes, and outerwear I purchased ranged between 75% and 85% off. Spending $1.99 (minus my 5% Gymboree Visa discount) for a flannel shirt that was originally $21.50 makes it worth having to hang onto it over the summer.

6. Buy used items. Gymboree clothes have excellent resale value because they are so well made. I have purchased used Gymboree items on eBay and at garage sales and have not been able to tell they were previously owned. As expected, pre-owned Gymboree clothes are not as expensive as new clothes but can rival them in quality and appearance.

Outfitting your child in Gymboree clothing is not as expensive as it may seem. Keeping these tips in mind will help you become Gymboree-savvy, allowing you to save money all while dressing your children in the cutest clothes in town.
