Guide to Finding Fun Decorative Pillows

Decorative Pillows, Pillow Covers

The right pillow can change the look of a room instantly and for the better. The following are my favorite designers and sites to find modern unique pillows that can turn a drab room around in minutes.

Tao Living

I love the pillows that tao-living has found, it is always the first place I go to look for modern clean cut designs. My favorite pillows from Tao Living are the Geisha Pillows by Thomas Paul. The geisha silhouettes are light sage on a chocolate background. Another modern design on pillows are the Egon Schiele Pillows which were inspired by Egon Schiele’s study off the nude female body. The designs are on a black background and stitched in metallic white, pink and brown thread. The last set of pillows on the site that I like are very playful and colorful and great for a kids room or a colorful dorm room. The Billow Soft Sculpture Pillows look like large bright ornaments. The curvy pillows come in tangerine, blue, chocolate and white.

Garnet Hill

I like the decorative pillows from Garnet Hill because they are very playful and remind me of something I would fill a vacation home with. A pillow of a different form is the round pill shaped Nolita pillow covers that they sell. At only $20 each they come in red and blue. The Zambezi Pillow Covers remind me of water rippling and the reflections that you see looking down into it, especially the aqua blue pillow. Each of the pillows have a two tone pleat giving them a rippled appearance and come in violet/lilac, berry/saffron, and surf/aqua.

Michele Varian

Each of the decorative pillows made by designer Michele Varian are handmade and well done. What I like best about each of these pillows is that they are simple but totally unique, each one has a hand cut applique of ultra suede or metallic leather on a silk background. There are ten collections, my favorites being the silk prints with the zebra or tulip chameuse and the Ultra Suede collection with butterfly and dragon cutouts. Be sure to check out the sale selections because there are some really neat designs available from last years collection.

Tilonia

Tilonia is not a designer but rather a small website dedicated to artisans from India. Tilonia has 3 different embroidered decorative pillows done by local artisans. Each piece is unique and the designs are beautiful and at $30 they are a steal.

Everything Eiffel

I love buying decorative pillows with scenes from the places I have visited and this site hits the spot. Everything Eiffel has a collection of decorative pillows featuring the Eiffel Tower for every taste, bedroom and style. This site features 14 different pillows my favorite being the neck roll and a cute Eiffel tower shaped pillow. Another site I found with decorative pillows with travel scenes on them is Keepsakes-etc. They have a Venice and Paris Postcard pillow done in tapestry and chenille with a black fringe.

Re-Modern

The Secret Service Pillow by Dora Drimalas will be sure to get people talking. The pillow has members of the secret service silk screened in black on the front of the cotton pillow. Also by Dora Drimalas is the Air Traffic Control pillow that has a flock of tiny airplanes silk screened in a V at the top of the pillow.
