Got 2b Glued Styling Spiking Glue

A few years ago, I had my long hair cut into a short and sassy hairstyle. My style is perpetually messy, spiky, and fun. With fine, stick-straight hair, I can achieve this style with a simply blowdry but must use a hairstyling product in order to hold and perfect it. I have several products in my styling arsenal to achieve my hairstyle, but I often reach for my bright yellow tube of Got 2b Glued Spiking Glue.

One reason I originally chose this styling product is because it’s actually wind-tunnel tested! My hair is very hard-to-hold, and I can use all the help I can get. The summer months in the humid region where I live can also cause any style I achieve to fall. Not so with this styling glue. The manufacturer classified this product as being for “screaming hold” so one may chunk and spike one’s hair.

Made in the USA by FatBoy Concepts, you can find this product in virtually any drugstore or mass-market store. Expect to pay anywhere from around $3-$5 for a large tube.

The spiking glue itself is opaque, white, and very thick. I can detect a scintilla of a chemical scent, but it dissipates quickly after application. FatBoy Concepts does not engage in animal testing.

Although the instructions say to use this product on damp hair, I haven’t had success with using it as such as I don’t care for the “wet” look. My hair needs to be dry in order for me to get this product to work properly. The product is opaque, white, and very thick. While it has a bit of a chemical scent, the scent dissipates quickly.

To use, I open the flip-top cap and dispense an approximately quarter-sized amount into the palm of my hand. (To give you an idea of how thick this product is, I can turn my hand upside down after dispensing, and the product will not move!) My hair is around 2″ long all over, so you will need more or less, depending on your style and length of hair.

I distribute the product between my two hands for easier application as well as to warm up the product for better distribution. I then dab it all over my head. (If I do not dab in spots all over first, I end up with parts of my hair having too much product, and other parts having not enough). After dabbing, I start to use my fingers to make messy areas in my hair, and then pull gently on small sections to create spikes. Even though it takes a couple of minutes for the product to dry completely, the places where I’ve applied the product while it’s still wet will stay in place until the product is dry.

This product dries pretty quickly, so you’re going to need to work fast while styling your hair. Should you find yourself with an area of hair that has dried too much for further manipulation, simply dampen your fingers slightly to reactivate the styling glue.

One thing of which I always need to remind myself when using this product is that I can always add more product, but I can’t take away what I’ve already applied. When I was first getting used to styling my hair with Got 2b Glued Styling Glue, I applied too much a couple of times and ended up with hair as hard as concrete!

This product works very well whether I just need a little hold or a lot of hold. It’s buildable without too much trouble, and will hold my hair where I place it.

Washing this out of my hair is relatively easy. The key is to rinse, rinse, rinse first to get as much out as possible, and then shampoo. The only time I’ve ever had to shampoo twice is when I’ve not rinsed well enough first. If you use a leave-in conditioner like I do, you’ll have an even easier time washing this product from your hair.

Inexpensive all-day hold is what I’m looking for, and I get superb results with Got 2b Glued Spiking Glue.
