On May 25, 2007 Google Maps released the Street View Option. Since then millions of people have used it, some people making it an everyday routine. Street View allows anyone to view streets across the
United States, United Kingdom, Netherlands, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. Google cars have also been seen driving around Hawaii recently. In a matter of time, the entire world will be available over this program. There is a lot of controversy about Google Maps, and it continues to be published in headline news around the world.

With more people learning about Google Maps, more people are actually trying it. The more people that actually try the program, the more people realize the power behind this program. Although Google Maps Street View is based on photos taken by Google cars instead of being real time, it is still very realistic. With 360 degree horizontal and 290 degree vertical panoramic views, it is just like looking through any street camera. Almost the entire United States is documented and shown on Google Maps using Street View. If you have not seen it yet, you really need to take a look.

It is completely free and there is no obligation. You don’t even need to open an account or purchase anything. It is just like any other map, you just simply go to Google Maps and start looking around. When you have found a location you wish to view, zoom in until you can see the individual streets available. Towards the left hand side of the map you will see your zoom toolbar, on the top of that you will see an image of a little yellow guy. If the image is not yellow, and you can not click on it, there are no Street View available in that area. If the image is yellow, you can now click on it. After clicking on the image, it will ask you to drag it to any street you wish to view. As long as the block you are trying to view is outlined in blue, there is Street View available.

Start by taking a look at your neighborhood, travel down the roads and enjoy the scenery. Type in your address and see if they have pictures available outside your house. With the 360 degree view, looking at your entire house is no problem. Take a look at your yard, your garage, now check out your car. Test out all the features including the zoom, in some cases you can see your very own license plate. Available to the entire world, compliments of Google. You can travel through entire cities, even states. As long as there are pictures available, the amount of things you can see are endless.

There is a lot of controversy regarding Google Maps Street View. From terrorism to simple invasion of privacy.
