Bordeaux, France has been producing highly sought after red and white wines for pretty much the entire history of winemaking. Although Napa Valley has stolen a lot of the luster by producing extraordinary wines over the past few decades, a reemergence of classic Bordeaux wines is surging across the wine community of late.

Finding a good Bordeaux wine for less than $15 is very challenging especially since some fantastic Bordeaux wines sell for a hundred times that amount, but with the recent influx of newly established vineyards throughout Bordeaux, good wines for cheap is becoming quit commonplace.

Below are a few good to better than good Bordeaux wines for $15 and under, some of these wines can hold their own against more complex and refined Bordeaux wines and you won’t go poor supporting your love for them.

Most of the good Bordeaux wines are from vintages only a few years old, which make these wines a possible candidate to develop into something quit remarkable a few years down the road or they can be enjoyed right now.

Guiraud Cheval Blanc Cotes de Bourg 2005 – This well crafted and balanced red Bordeaux blend is a winner for only $14 a bottle, this wine exhibits the complexity and sophistication of other highly priced Bordeaux wines. A very easy drinking wine without the strong tannins notable in other Bordeaux wines the mix of juicy fruity flavors of peach; apricot and citrus really come through on this wine making it fantastic for pairing with light meats and great for vegan dishes.

Chateau Chabiran 2003 – Starting at around $13 a bottle this Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc blend from Bordeaux is full bodied, with a nice nose of smoke and cherry that leads to a nice tasting wine with flavor notes of dark stone fruits and berries. Perhaps not as well balanced as other Bordeaux you can hardly complain for only spending $13.

Chateau la Rose du Pin 2005 – Another solid tasty Bordeaux red wine for only $15, this Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc blend has a great deep plum flavor in a medium bodied wine that finishes nicely on the palette, a great buy for $15.

Chateau Loupiac-Gaudiet 2003 – What list on Bordeaux wines would be complete without a white dessert wine, starting at $15 this extremely fresh and fruity wine encompasses the flavors of summer and is a great alternative to more expensive dessert wines from the Sauternes region of Bordeaux.

Chateau Canon-la-Gaffeliere 2004 – This is a fantastic wine regardless of the price, starting at $15 this red Bordeaux Blend from the St.Emilion region of Bordeaux is complex, well balanced and intense, everything you expect from red Bordeaux without the hefty price tag. You do have to let this wine decant for about an hour maybe even two due to the strong concentration of flavors and strong nose.

Domaine du Bouscat 2005 – Selling for around $11 this red Bordeaux Blend is extremely well balanced for such reasonably priced Bordeaux. Very young and fruity with strong flavors of dark stone fruits, this is a very easy drinking wine, a perfect table wine for most light lunches or dinners. Decanting this wine for an hour is a necessity to enjoy it properly.

Sirius Bordeaux Rouge 2005 – Sticker shock in the other direction for this rather complex well balanced red Bordeaux, starting at around $9 you will find it a challenge to find a better bargain, which isn’t reflected in the wine, this taste like a $20-$30 decent Bordeaux with a nice full body to match.

Chateau Magneau Graves 2007 – This fantastic white Bordeaux wine for only $14 will not disappoint you. Full of tropical and citrus flavors combined with a nice herbaceous backbone that finishes crisp is full of character making it a perfect match for numerous seafood and vegan cuisine.
