Gift Ideas for the Superhero

Aquaman

Come on, Superman doesn’t have time to shop, and although Batman has his butler Alfred to do that for him, he may not know what to get the superhero who has everything. Daredevil is too busy brooding to worry about material things and Wonder Woman has way too much on her platter. With that in mind, here are my top ten gift ideas for the superhero in your life.

#1 – Washable Costumes

Let’s face it, no superhero can take his (or her) costume in to have it cleaned. That would mean “goodbye secret identity”. While Superman’s clothing may be heat resistant, flame retardant, and in most ways indestructible, even it can get dirty and sweaty from all that hard work. I think some wash and wear clothing would be very helpful.

#2 -Sunglasses

Have you ever noticed that, with a couple of exceptions, superheroes don’t wear sunglasses? What are they thinking? It is always important to protect your eyes, even if you are a superhero. A pair of sunglasses could be perfect for the superhero on your list.

#3 – Fashionable Jewelry

Wonder Woman has her tiara and bracelets, but outside of that, most superheroes don’t wear much jewelry. There are a couple of fancy belt buckles here and there, but come on, we can do better than that. Today, everybody needs a little “bling” so it is a perfect gift.

#4 – Lunchbox

I’ve noticed that you seldom see a superhero eating lunch. Why is that? I suspect it has something to do with the fact they can’t fit their lunch into those tight fitting costumes. We mortals have our superhero lunch boxes. Perhaps we should manufacture some regular human lunch boxes for our heroes.

#5 – A Makeover

No offense, but a few of our hero’s costumes could use some updating. After all, Wonder Woman, it is the century of women. We’ve worked hard and long to improve our images and we’re just not sure your skimpy little costume is appropriate in this day and age. As for the guys, to be fair, we don’t want to be female chauvinists. We personally love the tights, but if they are uncomfortable, we’re willing to give you a break.

#6 – Alternative Fuel Vehicles

Most superheroes drive fast and hard. I’m betting those cars, motorcycles, and planes burn a lot of fuel. That can’t be good for the environment. Maybe a hybrid vehicle would fit the bill.

#7 – A Night on the Town

Okay, Bruce Wayne (Batman) gets to go out once in a while. I’m sure Lois makes certain that Clark (Superman) takes in a movie every once in awhile. However, I’ve never seen Aquaman at Disneyland or The Hulk at the beach. Come on, these guys deserve a night out. A gift certificate to a quaint little restaurant where they might not be recognized just might fit the bill.

#8 – A Watch or Clock

It may just be me, but I sometimes worry about a superhero showing up a few seconds late for an emergency. I don’t know about you, but I think they can always use a new watch or clock to make certain they stay on time.

#9 – A Coat

Maybe I’m missing something. I know Superman’s costume keeps him warm and I’m pretty sure Aquaman’s has the same capability (as well as being water repellent), but I worry about Wonder Woman, Elektra, Captain America, and some of the others catching cold. I think they should at least have a coat available, just in case.

#10 – A Pet

The life of a superhero must be lonely. You can’t tell anyone who you are and you are too busy to make a lot of friends. I bet Green Arrow would love a parakeet to talk to and Elektra looks like a cat person to me. Superman has his dog, so he’s set but Robin doesn’t count as a pet for Batman. Hulk could definitely use something to keep him calm and I bet The Thing would love a puppy.

Come on, guys, these superheroes are always there for us. Be sure and get them a little something as a thank you for the holidays.
