Gold’s Gym is one of the largest fitness chains in the world, with nearly 3 million members worldwide. Gold’s operates 600 locations in 43 states and 25 different countries. Gold’s Gym in Washington D.C. follows the original company standard of “helping people from all walks of life achieve their fitness potential.” There are three locations Gold’s Gym locations directly in Washington, DC. What follows is a little information about the different locations and the holiday specials they are currently offering.

Most of us who live in or around DC know that driving and parking in the city is no fun, so one of the first things we look for is the nearest metro station. The Capitol Hill location at 409 3rd St, SW is 19,000 square feet and just a few steps from the Federal Center Metro station. The Van Ness location is located at 4310 Connecticut Ave, NW and offers 19,500 square feet of gym space. The nearby Van Ness metro station is located at 4200 Connecticut. The Midtown location (1120 20 St. NW) is not as convenient to the Metro stations, but is the largest of the three locations with 22,000 square feet.

All three locations are offering a three month membership for $99 or a six month membership for $199. This is a holiday special, a perfect gift for your favorite fitness nut. It’s also a great deal, compared to their regular prices and compared to the fees charged by other clubs. Membership includes access to all equipment, classes and amenities, but not to personal trainers.

All of the Gold Gym locations provide cardio equipment; free weights, resistance machines, locker rooms, saunas and exercise classes, but the number of amenities and the condition of the equipment may vary. The Gold’s Gym free 1 day VIP pass for first time visitors makes it possible to tour the facilities and try out the equipment before you sign up for a membership.

The desire to have a personal trainer is one of the reasons that Gold’s has always been so popular with athletes, body-builders and celebrities. While some other gyms now employ personal trainers, Gold’s Gym trainers have the reputation of being more professional and better educated than the other guys. Today, you don’t have to be a wealthy celebrity to afford a personal trainer. The DC locations are currently offering three thirty minute sessions with a personal trainer for $99.

Willing to travel outside of DC? Want newer, more modern facilities? You may want to consider one of the newly renovated Virginia locations. For example, the Sullyfield Circle Gold’s gym location in Chantilly is only about 30 minutes from DC. They are not offering the same membership specials (the specials vary from location to location), but the recently remodeled facility boasts a large screen cardio movie theater playing a new movie every day. If you usually find cardio boring, maybe mixing it with a movie is the answer.

Other Specials from Gold’s Gym

Gold’s Gym partners with other fitness minded groups to make membership more affordable. For example, AARP members can join Gold’s for $49. The Christmas special price is better, but the AARP discount will not end with the holidays. In addition, AARP members receive up to 20% off of personal training sessions.
