Lizzie McGuire
Lizzie is the main character in the show. During the show’s run, she was in seventh and eighth grade. She is the typical self-conscious, but not too popular, teenager. She has two best friends: Gordo and Miranda. Lizzie McGuire was played by Hilary Duff.
Animated Lizzie
Animated Lizzie was an animation that appeared on screen to represent Lizzie McGuire’s thoughts that she did not say. Animated Lizzie was voiced by Hilary Duff.
Miranda Sanchez
Miranda is one of Lizzie’s best friends. There is no real story to how they met, but they do go to school together. Miranda tends to be the rebel of the three friends. She did not appear in the last six episodes produced and it was written that she was either out sick or on vacation in Mexico. Miranda was played by Lalaine Vergara.
David “Gordo” Gordon
Gordo is Lizzie’s best friend. They’ve known each other since they were one day old. Gordo offers sarcasm and good advice. He is revealed to be Jewish in one episode as he has a bar mitzvah. Gordo was played by Adam Lamberg.
Matt McGuire
Matt is Lizzie’s little brother. He irritates her and always has some crazy scheme. However, he is always there for his sister. He has a typical brother-sister relationship with Lizzie. Matt was played by Jake Thomas.
Ethan Craft is the guy who is the nice, but not too smart guy. All the girls have a crush on him. In the first few episodes, he was portrayed as a bad guy and Danny Kessler was the popular guy. However, this soon changed. Ethan can drive Gordo crazy, but they are always nice to each other. Ethan was played by Clayton Synder.
Jo and Sam McGuire
Jo and Sam McGuire are Lizzie and Matt’s parents. Jo is capable of being a good parent, but she is still trying to figure out how to raise a teenager. Sam seems to be quite clueless, but he is always there for his children. Jo McGuire was played by Hallie Todd. Sam McGuire was played by Robert Carradine.
Kate Saunders
Kate Saunders is the typical mean girl at school. She is always mean to Lizzie and Miranda. Lizzie and Kate used to be friends, but one summer Kate went to camp and then got a bra and became popular. Lizzie was not popular. Sometimes Kate’s last name is spelled Sanders. Kate was played by Ashlie Brillault.
Digby “Mr. Dig” Sellers
Mr. Dig is Lizzie’s laid back substitute teacher. The students really seem to like him. He implies that he has educated many celebrities. In one episode, he becomes Sam’s friend. Mr. Dig was played by Arvie Lowe, Jr.
Lanny Onasis
Lanny Onasis is Matt’s best friend. He never says a single word, but Matt can hear him. Lanny was played by Christian Copelin.
Melina Bianco
Melina is a girl that is in Matt’s class. At first she seems to be Matt’s enemy, but it is revealed that she is trying to get Matt in trouble because she likes him. This puts an end to Matt’s short crush on Miranda. Melina was played by Carly Schroeder.
