Much like Elvis Presley and David Cassidy before him, Zac Efron has captured the heart and attentions of tweens and teens everywhere. OK, so it may be a bit of a stretch to put Zac Efron and Elvis in the same sentence, but nonetheless, he now decorates the walls of many young girls all over the world. With the talent to sing, dance and act, Zac Efron is making a huge splash in the entertainment industry and capturing the hearts of young girls in the process. Here are a few fun facts about this up and coming, but already accomplished young star.

Quite A Name. Zac Efron’s full given name is Zachary David Alexander Efron.

California Dreaming. Zac Efron made his arrival on October 18, 1987 in San Luis Obispo, California.

First Born. Zac Efron has a younger brother named Dylan. His parents are David Efron and Starla Baskett.

Family Support. Zac Efron was lucky enough to have his father in his corner. His father strongly encouraged him to follow his acting dreams.

Little Guy. Zac Efron began taking formal singing lessons at the young age of eleven.

Early Days. Zac Efron starred in many high school productions, including Gypsy, Peter Pan, The Music Man and Little Shop of Horrors at the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts.

2002 Was A Busy Year. Zac Efron had roles in Firefly, ER, The Guardian, CSI Miami and most notably in the WB’s drama, Summerland. Zac Efron played the role of Cameron Bale.

Big Screen Time. Zac Efron portrays Link Larkin in the big budget movie, Hairspray, which hits theaters on July 20, 2007. Also starring in Hairspray is John Travolta and Michelle Pfieffer.

Suffers For His Art. Zac Efron dyed his hair and added fifteen pounds to his slight frame for the part of Link Larkin in Hairspray.

Future Projects. Zac Efron will be appearing in High School Musical Two, which will debut on the Disney Channel on August 17, 2007. He has also committed himself to star in a remake of Footloose which has no release date available at this time.
