Orlando is one of the top cities to visit. It is the home to several theme parks, as well as home to many of the state’s top tourist attractions. However, while Orlando is a hot tourism destination, the attractions tend to be pricey. If you want to pad your Orlando vacation with extra fun but you don’t want to spend a lot of money, then try out these free attractions.

Lake Eola Park

Lake Eola Park is a 43.2 acre recreation area that you can have a lot of fun at for free. This park can be found at 195 N. Rosalind Avenue in Orlando, Florida. It is open Monday through Sunday from 6:00 a.m. until 12:00 a.m. (midnight). Pets are allowed as long as they are on a leash and you pick up after them. There are jogging trails, water sports, equipment rentals, wildlife viewing areas, playground equipment and many other recreational options. You can even rent a gondola to tour the lake in style.

Fort Christmas Historical Museum and Park

The Fort Christmas Historical Museum and Park can be found at 1300 N. Fort Christmas Road. This is a great free attraction found on the way from Orlando to the Kennedy Space Center and other great local attractions. It offers a full sized replica of this historic fort, as well as re-enactments of pioneer life between 1870 and 1939. It is open in the summer from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and in the winter between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Harry P. Leu Gardens

If you are interested in a stroll through a tropical garden then the Harry P. Leu Gardens is the place you will want to go. They can be found at 1920 N. Forest Avenue in Orlando, Florida. They are open Monday through Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. They are closed on Christmas Day, and the museum is closed in July. The normal admission price is $7 for adults and $2 for kids in grades K-12. However, you can get in free Mondays between 9:00 a.m. and noon.

Go Orlando Card

There are a lot of discount cards that you can buy to save you money on your Orlandao vacation. However, one of the best deals in the Go Orlando Card. You can buy this card for 1, 2, 3, 5 or 7 days. Your card will get you in to several attractions for free, including: Gatorland, Green Meadows Petting Farm, Water Mania and Fun Sport Action Park. The best thing about this card program is that you can use it to get into as many attractions as you want, so the more attractions you visit the more money you will save. However, generally people tend to save about 35 percent off the cost of admission. This can really add up if you are traveling with a family of four or five, or if you visit more than three local attractions.
