Free Children’s Events in San Antonio

Kids Events

There are many free events for children of all ages in San Antonio. However, sometimes it is hard to locate these cost effective activities amongst all the pricey tourist attractions marketed toward San Antonio youth. However, for just the expense of a little time and effort you can find free kids’ entertainment in San Antonio. It’s just a matter of knowing where to look.

First, check out local magazines such as S.A. Kids and Current which publish monthly calendars that list free kids events. Both of these magazines can be found on the free magazine racks located at the entrance of grocery and mass retail stores. The events that are no cost have the word “free” in bold at the end of the calendar entries.

Also, the City of San Antonio lists free events on their website. The Parks and Recreation Department offers a full year’s worth of events such as movies in the park and seasonal activities like Easter egg hunts. And the San Antonio Public Library system offers family fun activities, arts and crafts, and age appropriate storytimes.

Even some retailers offer free kids activities to entice parents into their stores. Bookstores such as Barnes and Nobles and locally owned Red Balloons offer weekly storytimes. And hobby shops such as Michael’s and Home Depot offer Kids Clubs where children can make free craft projects onsite. These activities are usually held during the weekend at various locations throughout San Antonio. Even Sylvan Learning Centers will show your 5 – 12 year old how to make a free take home art project every Saturday morning.
