Four Exciting Fall 2012 Fashion Trends for Women

Fall 2012

The weather might be just heating up for you, however, for department stores it’s a different story altogether. Many are busy unveiling their exclusive designer collections for Fall 2012 and offering a headstart to interested shoppers. This is the perfect time to study new and exciting trends that will find us in the coming months. Among myriad runway shows showcased, which trends simply standout? From architectural menswear choices to ladylike high-slit skirts, Fall 2012 offers eclectic fashion options. Here’s a sneak peak of what will heat your plates as the temperature cools down.

Navy – the new hue in town

Neiman Marcus describes navy as the “new neutral” and why not? The elegant navy made a dramatic appearance on the runways and was a popular choice for apparels and accessories. While the hue was a definite winner solo, it also made quite an impact when paired with winter’s popular color choice: black.

Designers like Carolina Herrera and Preen juxtaposed the colors to create a striking pattern. Donna Karan used the combo to layer. She used a black turtleneck to layer underneath an oversized sweater and black tights to style a navy skirt.

However, designer like Alexander Wang took the minimal route by creating a simple and elegant sheath dress in navy blue opening a range of styling possibilities. While the rocker chic may choose to pair the dress with leather jacket and boots, the elegant diva may opt for statement sandals and bold accessories. Hence, no matter what your fashion mantra is, this fitted T by Alexander Wang dress fits all bills.

The head-to-toe winter white

The love for all white continues well from spring and summer into fall and winter. While head-to-toe whites post-Labor Day might make you cringe, designers have seamlessly translated the trend to create knockout outfits that are chic, trendy and not to forget warm.

Designer like Alexander Wang went matchy-matchy by pairing a white mock-turtleneck top and tapered pants, much like Yigal Azrouel who styled slim pants and a simple white top .

Check out Peter Som’s take on the dreamy white trend. The American designer offers a cozy fluffy robe-style coat in ethereal white – a perfect offering to beat the winter blues.

The glossy leather

Leather has continued to be a popular choice for high-end designers. Fall 2012 is no exception. However, the leather of fall 2012 is shinier, glossier and polished than ever. Some standout runway pieces were the J.W. Anderson’s monochromatic head-to-toe shimmering look in grays and burgundy.

Does that shine and gloss leave you intimidated? Check out Francisco Costa’s interpretation of leather for Calvin Klein’s Fall 2012 RTW collection. Costa takes the conventional elegant route by creating stunning separates in leather. From vests to skirts, one can expect to see the chic interpretation from the runways to the streets.

Fur

A glance at the runway shows and one can notice the designers’ love for fur. However, designers were smarter and trendier with their furry interpretations for Fall 2012. Rather than dishing out a complete outfit, fur was used sparingly to create effects that were subtle and stylish (moreover, it kept the sensibilities of fashionistas under check).

Amid various takes that made it to the runways, Dsquared²’s Dan and Dean Caten’s take on a furry peplum was a personal favorite. The style clearly takes fur to a new level and gives it a fresh dimension.
