Five Uses for Orange Soda

Beef Roast, Carbonated Beverages, Orange Soda

I happen to be an orange soda junkie. Sunkist happens to be my brand of choice, but just about any brand will do. I like orange soda so much that I don’t save it for just drinking. I actually incorporate orange soda into my cooking as well. The flavor orange soda gives some dishes is just amazing. You honestly won’t believe how flavorful a plain old beef roast could be just by adding a can of orange soda. Also it can be the perfect substitute for beer can chicken, if you don’t like the taste of beer. Here are just five of the fun ways you can use orange soda.

Five Uses for Orange Soda #1: Flavor a Roast

Beef roast can get boring, even if you only make it every once and while. When I was growing up, my mom would fix beef roast in a crock pot and add a can of orange soda. She used orange soda because it gave the roast such a wonderful flavor. As the meat slow cooks, the flavor is infused all throughout the roast. This is something you have to try at least once.

Five Uses for Orange Soda #2: Alternative Flavor for Beer Can Chicken

I don’t drink alcohol and even though heat evaporates most of the alcohol content in beer and spirits, I still can’t stand the taste of beer. Luckily, orange soda is the perfect substitute for beer. The next time you make beer can chicken, use orange soda instead. This is such an easy way to add flavor to a grilled chicken. Plus, the flavor works really well with chicken.

Five Uses for Orange Soda #3: Bubbly Jell-O

Why add water to your Jell-O when you could use orange soda instead? Carbonated beverages work so well in Jell-O because they give the gelatin a bubbly texture. You will actually be able to see the bubbles when the gelatin has set. You will also be able to feel the bubbles when you eat this fabulous dessert. Also when you use orange soda, you add even more flavor.

Five Uses for Orange Soda #4: Flavor a Cake Mix

There are thousands of recipes that use soda to make a cake. Some are even so simple that all you need to do is mix a can of orange soda and a cake mix. Other recipes incorporate carbonated beverages along with several other ingredients. Do a quick Google search and you’ll find several wonderful recipes for cakes that are made with soda.

Five Uses for Orange Soda #5: Creamsicle Float

Anyone who knows me, or reads my content, knows that I’m a junkie for ice cream floats. Instead of sticking with cola or root beer, why not use orange soda to make an ice cream float? Orange soda with vanilla ice cream is an amazing combination. You could even combine diet soda with vanilla frozen yogurt for a more health conscious option. Either way, this is a delicious summer treat.
