Five Great Graduation Gift Ideas to Give: From One Graduate to Another

Graduation Gift Ideas, Graduation Gifts 2009

If you are a graduate looking to find the perfect gift for another graduate, these five suggestions are all inexpensive, memorable and give you great options for finding just the perfect gift selection for your friend and classmate.

One: Get a blank t-shirt and some special pens of choice (puff pens, glitter glue pens, etc.). Both can be picked up at any craft store for under $10.00. Take the items around to various people in the school who you know your friend interacts with and have them sign the shirt with their name and if they choose, a simple message as well. Do not forget teachers, counselors, the principal, the librarian, band leaders, coaches, etc.

Two: Akin to the first idea, but with the added touch of being an item that can sit out in the open as a knick-knack or beloved item for the bedroom or college dorm room, is a blank stuffed animal. They make these especially for signing and come in cute shapes such as a long Dachshund dog wearing a graduation cap or a teddy bear wearing one that has a paunch tummy to write on. Purchase a permanent marker as well and let the graduate’s friends sign away. These are readily available seasonally in the graduation section of many stores.

Three: Put together a photo album for your friend. You can use pictures that have already been taken or you can spend a day going around school and taking pictures of his or her friends in various poses to create the book. Make sure to get teachers as well and a picture of the outside of the school. This will be a great gift idea for them to look back on years from now as well as one that is cherished immediately.

Four: Get an autograph book for your friend. These are very inexpensive and can be passed around to teachers and classmates alike. You can do this on the sly and present it as a gift or you can purchase one for you and one for your friend and go around the school together collecting signatures. Reading back on what is written will always be sure to bring a smile to the grad’s face.

Five: Hand-held audio tape players are a lot of fun and very practical for gathering messages from your fellow graduates classmates. You can be as inventive as you would like (making it sound like official interviewing, news casting, acting, or singing for the music major, etc.). These tapes are inexpensive, as is the player itself if there is not one already available for use and they can be easy avenues to laughter. Just be sure to edit as necessary and take out any derogatory remarks, even if said in jest, prior to the final ‘cut’ of the tape is given to the graduate.

For one graduate-to-be, to consider a gift for a fellow school completer is not all that common as most upcoming graduates are so understandably busy with their own schedules and planning. This gives the graduate-to graduate gift the added benefit of being a true surprise, which works very well in its favor. The other great pluses of these ideas is that they are not expensive or all that time-consuming but they will easily create superb and positive memorabilia from a time period in everyone’s life that is looked back upon throughout their lives. Sometimes it is the small touches that mean so much and this is easily an instance where that theory could be applicable. Of corse there are many other great gift ideas for said situation and if one of these does not suit the gift recipient you have in mind, you can use them as a catalyst to come up some great ideas of your own.
