Party Favors, Pirate Party

Pirate-themed parties are becoming more and more popular with boys and girls alike, and if your son or daughter wants to have a pirate party for his or her birthday or for any other occasion, be sure to include fun party favors to fit the theme. Party favors from the store won’t compare to the following favors especially for a pirate celebration. If you want to impress your son or daughter as well as his or her friends, try these ideas for pirate party favors. With fun games, good food, lots of activities, and interesting party favors, the pirate party you host is sure to be a big hit!

Start With a Treasure Chest

When most people think of pirates, treasure chests come to mind, and a treasure chest is the perfect place to store bags of favors. You can easily make an inexpensive treasure chest to hold party favors, and the treasure chest you make will add to the party décor. For the cost of a small foam cooler, a can of spray paint, gold ribbon, a piece of black velvet or similar material, and a bag of faux jewels, you can make a treasure chest that will impress all of the pirates in attendance.

Begin by spray painting a small foam cooler with brown spray paint. After the spray paint dries, line the inside of the cooler with a piece of dark velvet or fleece, and attach it along the edges with hot glue. While the glue gun is still hot, attach wide gold ribbon along the top and bottom edges. Fill the finished treasure chest with faux jewels, flat glass marbles, and small shells. Place party favors inside the chest, and pass them out as guests arrive.

Bags of Pirate Treasure

Candy, small shells, and genuine coins are fantastic party favors for a pirate celebration. Make up bags of wrapped chocolate coins mixed in with real polished coins, seashells, and a variety of fancy polished stones. The kids will love these fun and unique party favors!

Bags of gummy candy also make great edible favors for a pirate party. Choose gummy fish, sharks, and other ocean-themed candies. Rock candy is also a good choice, and all unwrapped selections can be bagged and stored in the homemade pirate chest.

Toilet Paper Roll Parrots

Pirates and parrots go together, and you can make parrots using empty toilet paper rolls, or this craft can be turned into a fun party activity for the kids. All you need are sheets of construction paper, colorful craft feathers, plastic eyes, and thick craft glue. Depending on how much time you want to spend on making these party favors, a portion of the project can be completed in advance, and the kids can glue on the eyes, beaks, feet, and feathers.

Begin by cutting out red, blue, yellow, or green sheets of construction paper that will fit perfectly around empty toilet paper rolls, and glue them in place. Next, cut out yellow beaks and feet, and glue them onto the rolls along with the eyes and colored feathers. Optionally, a hole can be poked into opposite sides of the base, and a black piece of elastic can be threaded and knotted on the inside. Kids will love wearing their parrots proudly, and they’ll enjoy making and playing with these fun party favors.

Treasure Chest Activity

In addition to party favors such as candy and other goodies especially for pirates, consider having the kids decorate their very own mini treasure chests to hold their loot. Treasure chests can be made from empty shoe boxes or cigar boxes, and they can be decorated with faux gems, paper, raffia, fabric, and any other craft supplies you have on hand. Give the kids the supplies they need to make small treasure chests, and be sure to fill them with goodies and other fun favors when their chests are complete.

Easy Pirate Hats

Pirate hats also make fantastic favors, and they can be made using ordinary black bandanas and fabric paint. Provide a black bandana for each pirate in attendance, and provide bottles of latex craft paint, paint brushes, and paint shirts to protect clothing. The paint will dry quickly, and the kids will be able to take home their hand-painted party favors. This activity is a great way to take up time while providing the kids with favors they can keep and continue to use.
