Family Friendly Places to Take the Kids in St. Augustine, Florida

Ghost Tours, Marineland, Northeast Florida, St Augustine Florida

Are you looking for something fun to do with the kids in St. Augustine, Florida, this summer? There certainly are a lot of options to choose from. Here are my picks for some of the best ones:

The Pirate Ship Black Raven

What young child doesn’t enjoy a good game of make believe? I know my family always enjoyed creative pursuits like the one offered by the Pirate Ship Black Raven. It is a real ship that sets sail with costume clad pirates ready to seek out treasure and rattle a sword or two. You can find the Black Raven and her crew docked at the St. Augustine Municipal Marina. Prices and hours of operation vary based on the type of swashbuckling adventure desired.

Ghost Tours of St. Augustine

I think that my kids enjoy a good ghost story as much as they do playing make-believe pirate. Maybe yours will as well. In my opinion, the Ghost Tours of St. Augustine has some of the best storytellers around. It is located on St. George Street. The company offers several ghost tours to choose from and prices vary by tour. If you ask me, the paranormal experience tour is the most thrilling.

Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park

The Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park on Magnolia Avenue is a great place to take the kids if you want to spend the entire day having fun. It features a ton of exhibits as well as a planetarium. My favorite sections of the park include the archaeology exhibit, the burial grounds exhibit, the planetarium and the Indian exhibit. Admission fees typically start at $8 and hours of operation vary.

St. Augustine Alligator Farm and Zoological Park

The St. Augustine Alligator Farm and Zoological Park is another superlative place for family fun. It is located on A1A and typically opens daily. I enjoyed the fossil exhibit and the land of crocs. The crocodile crossing is also definitely something the bravest members of your family should consider. It is a zip line that takes you over alligators, crocodiles and more. Admission is roughly $11 for kids and $22 for adults.

Marineland Dolphin Adventure

Prefer swimming with the dolphins over swinging past crocodiles? I can’t say that I blame you. If so are more the dolphin fan, you’ll want to squeeze a trip to Marineland Dolphin Adventure into your plans. It is located on Oceanshore Boulevard and offers all types of dolphin interaction. I’d suggest the touch and feed program as well as the dolphin designs program for the kids. It usually opens daily and prices vary by program.
