Experience the Nightmare at Believers Church in Marshfield, Wisconsin

Marshfield

Where can you see a car accident, a suicide scene, a drug fight, and Jesus hanging on the cross all in one building? The Nightmare at Believers Church is the answer. This is truly an amazing place to walk through. It opens your eyes to a person’s problems where they can find help by looking to God.

The Church built the building called the Orbital for Nightmare about 10 years ago now. This is going to be the 9th year in a row they have put this event on. Every year it keeps attracting more and more people. Last year alone people from over 20 different states came to see this awesome event. Each year averages between 12,000-15,000 people. In all 8 years about 100,000 people have walked through Nightmare.

It takes a lot of people, make-up, and props to make Nightmare a success. Every performance requires anywhere between 200-300 people in the cast and crew. The special effects and make-up make this experience truly amazing and like nothing you have seen before. The Nightmare is an interactive, Hollywood quality maze that graphically depicts the four top killers, drugs, drunk driving, suicide and gang violence, of teens and young adults in America. It provides an unforgettable lesson about the difficult consequences of many life choices.

As you walk through the place, you will feel a lot of different kinds of emotions. It is a little disturbing at some of the scenes. The car accident scene looks so real with a teen in the back seat bleeding to death after his friend crashed the car after a drinking party. The next scene as parents are in the house fighting, a young girl sits crying outside. She has a gun in her mouth and the shot goes off.

The message in all of this is that you can choose life, not death. You are able to change your life, but you don’t have to do it alone. You can look to others and God for help in your every day trials. As you walk through all the different themed rooms, maybe you see yourself, or maybe you see one of your friends or maybe what your future could be. It shows you where some of your bad decisions can possibly lead you in life and it is very graphic. Like I said before the make-up and specials effects are really awesome and very life like.

At the end, the room where it shows Jesus on the cross is very real. The actor has nails through his hands and feet and blood is dripping from his body. You can see realistic looking scars all over his body from where he was whipped. It really makes you think about everything in your life.

The Nightmare takes about 20 minutes to go through, but we waited in line for about 2 and a half hours until we got in. They put on shows every Friday and Saturday in October. Tickets are $8 but it is well worth it. You do have to be at least 13 years old to enter though. Like I said before though, it is very graphic, but the experience can really open your eyes to things in your life. It is a great place to take your teen through for a great life lesson!
