At first glance when you see how much it costs for an adventure to swim with Dolphins, it could take your breathe away. However, when you add up all that is included and understanding this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to connect one on one with nature’s most beautiful creatures, you accept the value of this experience. Discovery Cove offers you a chance to embrace the energy of exotic and endanger animals from all around the globe. Discovery Cove allows you hands on experience with these species, a chance to appreciate them in their natural habitat. Rarely, can you ever enjoy an experience like this again.
Prices vary during low and high tourist season. During the high season, the cost per person is around $279 for a day experience. There are no discounts for children. The Discovery cove experience is not recommended for children two and under. Florida residents will receive a periodic discount adding up to around 20 per cent off.
They allow you to come into the park at 8:30am . However, the duration period for the event is from 9am to 5pm. The day begins with a delicious hot and diverse breakfast. Lunch, snacks, and beverages are provided throughout the day. With this admission fee, it further entitles the person one week of continuous visits to either Busch Gardens in Tampa or Sea World in Orlando.
They only allow 1500 people in the park for the day. What theme park in Orlando that you know of, that you do not have any crowds or waiting time in lines? Well, Discovery Cove is the only one that can boast about that.
Everyone has certain times they are assigned to different locations in the park. It is divided into several areas.

A thirty minute swim with the dolphins. Snorkeling with tropical fish and sting rays (don’t worry, these sting rays have their stingers removed, so you don’t have to worry about being in any danger)

You can hand feed exotic birds in the free flight aviary (it’s really a neat experience when they land on your head or shoulder) By the way, when the birds fly overhead, you can expect some souvenir gifts in return. Included in here is a giant Toucan and Kookaburras.
Now, when you are with the dolphins, the temperature of the water is very cold. However, you have a choice of a wet suit or a floatation vest. We preferred the wet suit for this. You must wear one or the other all day. However, you can change it to a vest for later.
They have a nice pool to swim in and you can float along the tropical river they have designed for your enjoyment.
You are given a locker for your clothes. When you are all done for the day, they have a very nice shower set up with soaps, towels and hair blowers, if you wish to clean off before going home.
You can take pictures except when you go for swimming with the dolphins. They do have video and photo packages. Yes, they are expensive, but what a memory to have for yourself.
There are more expensive packages, like “Trainer for a Day” or “Evening Package”. We have been living in Florida for 22 years. We are so happy we finally took the plunge to swim with these beautiful creatures. It was definitely a memory we will always cherish forever.
