Easy Ways to Remove Dog Hair from Furniture

Dog Hair

Dogs love to lie on sofas, couches, loveseats and chairs instead of the floor. After all, fabric-covered furniture is comfortable and inviting. Unfortunately, dogs that shed often leave behind a hairy mess that must be removed or the furniture begins looking dirty. Not to mention, no one wants to sit on furniture and end up covered in dog hair. However, it is possible to remove dog hair in a number of cheap and easy ways.

If you feel the need to vacuum the furniture everyday, stop vacuuming and start using the following easy ways to remove fur from furniture. Vacuums do not easily remove dog hair stuck within the fibers of furniture, especially coarse needle-like hair, but these easy ways to remove dog hair from furniture will help you maintain home furnishings that people will not be apprehensive to sit on. A canine is a part of the family, but shedding can cause serious problems, and these easy ways to remove the fur from furniture will help end the daily nightmare and embarrassment once and for all.

Sticky Sheets to Remove Dog Hair

One of the best store-bought products currently available to remove dog hair from furniture is called Sticky Sheets. They are available in extra-large and mini sizes, and they can be used multiple times to remove dog hair from furniture and other fabric. One of my friends uses Sticky Sheets, and she claims they work better than any other product she has tried.

Washable Lint Rollers

I prefer washable lint rollers to clean away dog hair from my fabric furniture. Unlike disposable adhesive products, washable lint rollers can be rinsed with warm water and used again and again. I find this method to remove dog hair from furniture to be more eco-friendly than other options since the rollers are not disposable. I have owned a set of washable lint rollers for a few years, and they work just as good now as the day they were purchased.

Try a Damp Rag or Washcloth

Furniture that can safely be dampened with water can be wiped to remove dog hair. Simply run a clean washcloth or rag under warm water, and ring it out thoroughly. Use the rag to wipe away and remove dog hair. This is also a good way to tackle a few spots or stains while in the process of removing pet fur from washable fabric furnishings.

The Rubber Glove Method

Some people use a gloved hand to remove dog hair from fabric-covered furnishings. Simply rinse the glove with warm water, shake away any excess moisture, and use it to gently brush away and remove loose fur. The hair might stick to the glove, or it will roll into sections that are easy to pick off of the fabric. Textured rubber gloves work very well, and best of all they can be rinsed and used again and again.

Masking Tape to Remove Dog Hair

When in a pinch, and when furniture cannot be cleaned with a damp rag or washcloth, use the adhesive side of wide masking tape to clean away pet fur from fabric furnishings. This method works well, but it takes several feet of masking tape to remove hair from an entire sofa or another large piece of furniture. However, masking tape is cheap, and when in a pinch it works exceptionally well to remove dog hair from furniture.
