Dutch Boy Paint Review

The brand of Dutch Boy paints is superior to other brands on the market in my opinion. Recently I was changing a spare room into a home office and the Dutch Boy paint that I bought did the trick. This covered the walls nicely.

With most of the children gone, I had too many bedrooms when what I needed was office space. Rather than make an expensive addition to my humble home I decided to restore a bedroom with paint. Of course, I purchased a few gallons of Dutch Boy paint.

Truthfully since we build this home nearly twenty years ago this is the only brand I have used within our home. I feel this is an excellent value for m money. Every family needs to save money in this economy and I certainly need to save.

We washed down the walls and the ceiling before even painting. In addition, we picked off bits of scotch tape, which held posters on the wall. I also removed the alphabet border that looked so cute when we first placed it so long ago when our boys were barely out of diapers.

Then it was time to do some preparation on the walls to prevent the Dutch Boy paint from getting on any of the molding. Granted it is washable when the paint first splatters however with it being summer the paint dries quickly. Everyone should also tape off with woodwork to prevent the splatters. This little step will save a lot of time and effort.

In this room we spackle on the walls to cover tack holes and dents made over the years. Spackling is easy, but time consuming because you spread it on, allow it to dry, and then sand it down flat to fill the holes.

After the walls were prepped, we painted the ceiling and lower half of the walls with white Dutch Boy paint. The covered the marks on the ceiling from years of boys having this room.

The Dutch Boy white paint covered the surface of the walls even though they were a dark blue from last time we painted. I left their blue paint on the upper walls, and it appeared quite a contrast. The last time we painted this room is when the boys were still quite young, rather then move one of them out of the room we never repainted until we converted it. The bottom of the walls looked great there was no hint that it was on top of a darker color, which was very different.

The painting job covered all the darker color and made it a crisp white. That is the value you get here it does the trick without applying a second coat.

The transformation was unreal, and when it still had blue Dutch Boy paint on the top half of the wall, it looked nice. However, the job was only half of the way done and we would need to finish this.

I had purchased light beige wallpaper along with a matching seashells border to finish off the room. The home office looked great when completed.
