Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Perfumed Deodorant Stick, 1.7 Oz: Review

Designer Fragrances

About a month ago I won an Amazon.com electronic gift certificate (it pays to take online surveys!). It took me a good 2 weeks to figure out what I’d use the money on. Then the light bulb popped on! I totally could use this free dinero on one of my favorite designer fragrances.

I searched and I came across my all time favorite fragrance, Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue. Seeing how I could use a refill on my perfume, I placed an order for some new perfume, and a new product from Dolce Light Blue, that I have yet to use.

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Perfumed Deodorant Stick, 1.7 oz.

Besides it being from Amazon, the actual deodorant was actually coming from Macy’s, a reliable site I trusted and had used before. The deodorant comes in stick form, and I honestly had no clue if it would be a solid white deodorant, or a gel like deodorant. (I was actually hoping for solid white, seeing how I am not too fond of the wet feeling gel deodorants leave behind).

About 3 days later my Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Perfumed Deodorant Stick, 1.7 oz arrived. I opened up the cardboard box, and took a look inside. There lied a very small box.

I must say I was a bit taken back by how small the box was. I figured this would be a large deodorant stick, seeing how my 1.7 ounce Dolce & Gabbana perfume came in a decent sized bottle.

The deodorant stick though resembled a standard deodorant stick…only cut in half. I felt like I had just purchased a goddamn $18.00 trial sized product.

Did I feel like I just got ripped off? Um yeah, you could say that.

The package that the deodorant came in was the exact same packaging all Dolce Light Blue products come in. (Only much smaller). The box itself is a fuzzy light blue color, with the Light Blue logo on it. I have been saving the boxes, only because I think they’re pretty.

Deodorant Type:

I popped of the top to the deodorant stick, and found that Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Perfumed Deodorant Stick, is actually a solid gel form deodorant. Not my favorite, but I could deal with it, because I do in fact love the Light Blue scent.

Scent:

Citrus and cedar wood is mainly what I smell in Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue. Some compare the scent to hamster chips…but for me, I smell refreshing earthy tones. I love, love, love it. Besides it smelling like heaven, it is also long lasting. This is particularly why I adore the scent so much.

Application:

I swiped a few swiped of the gel deodorant onto my pits. That nasty wet feeling that I hate was present, but it dried rather quickly, so I cannot complain too much.

How Well Does It Work?

To be honest I was a bit nervous going out of the house using just the Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Perfumed Deodorant Stick. I worried that it would not protect from sweat, or odor for long at all.

At first all was well. If I got hot, my pits would give of the glorious Light Blue scent. About 3 hours into my day though that glorious Dolce scent began to mix with my natural body odor, which resulted in an odor all its own. Not horrible, but also not…pleasant. Sweat also began to make itself known throughout the day. Not huge drops of sweat, but enough to make me feel uncomfortable.

Overall as a deodorant Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Perfumed Deodorant Stick does not do well.

I refused to just throw it out though. Instead I line my pits with my usual brand of deodorant that I know will protect me from wetness and odor. After applying my normal brand, I then swipe a dash of Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Perfumed Deodorant Stick on top. This way I can still enjoy the Light Blue scent.

All in all I would give Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Perfumed Deodorant Stick, 2 stars out of 5. It’s not really a reliable deodorant, but it sure as hell smells good.
