If you are looking to make some custom window treatments on a budget and you have tons of family photos then you should try this easy craft project! Custom window treatments can be expensive and often boring, these fun and whimsical family photo window treatments are neither one of those.
This awesome Family Photo window treatment is the simplest way to incorporate a custom window treatment into your home. Don’t worry you will be using photocopies for your family photos, so there will be no damage.
To make this simple custom window treatment with family photos you will need:
Family Photo (photocopies)
Sheet of Paper (optional)
Black fine tip Sharpie
Two Teacup hooks
Two Christmas ribbons 20 inches long
1 – 2 yards of ribbon
Hot glue
Scissors
Tape Measure
The first step is to measure how wide and tall the inside of your window frame is. I like to make this simple custom window treatment fit the bottom half of the window, but that are up to you. The Family Photo custom window treatments will block a good bit of light, so keep that in mind.
So, the first step is to take your favorite family photos to Kinko’s and have them photocopied. You can do this in black and white or even in color. You choose.
Now, for the fun. Cut your sheet of paper out to the same size as your window treatment.
Now, use this as a guide to lay your photos out in a pattern. You can over lap photos ot even line them up like tiles,
So, now you need to take your hole punch and poke holes in the four corners of each photo.
Now, take those inexpensive paper hole protectors and start applying them to the fronts an back of each hole you poked.
Now, continue this process until you have covered all of the dots out into the Family Photo.
So, once all of your holes are protected you can start connecting each picture to form that panel design you laid out.
I like to use ribbon or twine or even a fun yarn. You can add color and texture this way.
You also do not have to make this custom window treatment as large as your window. You can hang it in the middle and still have an awesome designer look.
Now, Insert 1 20-inch ribbon, twine, or yard through 1 hole in the top left and one hole in the top right.
You can use a pushpin to attach each side of the custom window treatment to your window. Just push them into your window frame.
If you have aluminum window us some of those self-adhesive hooks that stick to wall without damaging them. Tie your two ribbons in a bow and hook them onto the disposable hooks!
