Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Tryouts: Audition Information

Have you always wanted to be a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader? Do you think you have the right stuff? Well if so then get ready for the tryouts that start May 10th. Here is some additional information about the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader Tryouts. Keep in mind that while being a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader is a privilege, it is not a full time job. Most Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders have other jobs as well and treat this as a part time position.

Tryout Dates: There are several dates that are important, tryouts on each date start at 8 am according to the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Website. May 10th is your first step, and that is the preliminary qualifier. If you make it through the preliminaries on May 10th, you will return on May 11th for the semi-finals. After making it through the semi-finals to be a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader, your next step is the personal interviews on May 23rd. The finals is a dance competition if you make it that far and will be held May 24th.

Age Requirements; You must be at least 18 years old by the time of the preliminaries, not the finals. This means you must be 18 years or older on May 10th to try out. You also must bring a driver’s license or passport to verify your identity and age at the preliminaries.

Education Requirements: You must have either graduated from high school with a diploma, or have a G.E.D.

Location Requirements: You must live in the greater Dallas/Ft. Worth area and have reliable transportation so you can attend all rehearsals.

Where are the tryouts held?: The auditions are held at Texas Stadium in the Stadium Club. This is located at Gate 1

What will I need for the tryouts as far as attire?: You should wear hot pants and a dance or athletic bra top. Tank tops are not permitted.

What will the judges be looking for?: Well of course they will be looking for an ability to do a dance/cheer routine as a requirement. Along with that they will be looking for personality, energy, poise, and your figure is a factor as well. Keep in mind that the Dallas Cowboys do not have a height or weight requirement, but looking attractive in the uniform is a requirement for the cheerleaders. Physical skills the judges will be looking for include the ability to do high kicks and splits.

What happens if I make it to the interview stage?: You will have a personal interview with judges at the Valley Ranch. If you make it through the interview you will make it to the finals.

What happens at the finals?: At the finals you will be given two tests. One will be a written test about the Dallas Cowboys organization, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, the history of the organization, cheerleaders, and NFL. You will also be given an oral exam to test your football knowledge. You must have knowledge of the game to become a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader.

After the exams, you will be given 90 seconds to display a personal talent that you have. You must provide your own music for this presentation. Finally you will do a dance presentation and kickline that you are taught during call backs. After this the judges will make a decision.

What is expected of me if I become a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader?: You must attend all Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader rehearsals, which are held on weeknights from 7:00 pm until 10:30 pm. You will also be expected to attend public appearance events. Some of these will be for charity and others will be paid appearances. As a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader you are likely to receive fan mail and you are expected to respond to it. Other activities you participate in as a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader include children’s camps, dance classes, and media interviews.

How do I get started?: Visit www.dallascowboys.com/cheerleaders/auditions and download the application. Fill it out and send it in along with a check for $25 as the application fee and a photo of yourself. Keep in mind this photo is for identification purposes only, but it will not be returned.
