Cricket PayGo Review

Hard of Hearing, Mobile Web, Prepaid Phone

This is just because I am a little hard of hearing to begin with, not because the service has issues.I have always been the type of person who doesn’t like to get tied down to a contract. I never wanted to have to be married to a cell phone provider for two years. So when I decided that I needed to join the rest of the world and get a cell phone, I opted for a prepaid.

I shopped around and found Cricket PayGo. This s Cricket Wireless’ prepaid phone service. All of the research I did gave me the distinct impression that the prepaid market was one the red headed stepchild of the cell phone industry, but that is changing.

The Cricket PayGo service has several options. You can opt for unlimited talk for $1.00 a day, unlimited talk and text capability for $2.00 a day or unlimited everything (talking texting, mobile web usage) for $3.00 a day.

I only use my cell phone occasionally, to check with my wife to see if there is something I need to pick up on the way home, or to keep in touch if she needs me for anything while I am out. So for me the best Cricket PayGo option was the unlimited talking for $1.00 a day. I never use text messaging. I did when I first got a phone as it seemed easier than trying to yell to be heard in a crowded location. However after a while I realized it took ten minutes to type a message using my thumbs. I gave up on texting after that.

The Cricket PayGo service was easy to start. I simply needed to select a phone, so I got a Samsung low rung model. (It still had a camera in it, not that I needed it but for $59.00 that was what I ended up with.) Then you need to activate it.

The Cricket PayGo activation could not be simpler. I was able to go online, type in my cell phones serial number, and activate my service right over the internet.

I have read several reviews on the web about how lousy the Cricket PayGo is, and that their customer service department is lacking in anything resembling service. I have actually not had any problems with the service, or getting the phones to work.

I usually make sure that I don’t have the car radio on when I make a call using m Cricket PayGo. (I do not use the Cricket PayGo while I am driving. I make sure I am parked – something I highly recommend to anyone with a cell phone)

This is just because I am a little hard of hearing to begin with, not because the service has issues.

The calls I make on the Cricket PayGo are quite clear. I hear and can be heard just fine.

I would recommend the Cricket PayGo to anyone on a budget who wants to get a cell phone.
