A while back I was visiting my mom and while staying at her house I tried a few different new foods. Lucky for me my mom has the same appreciation of organic foods that I have and she too will get organic foods over traditional foods. One of these foods was peanut butter and the brand that my mom had on hand was Kirkland Organic Creamy Peanut Butter. I don’t get this peanut butter myself but I was eager to try it.
The reason that I do not get Kirkland Organic Creamy Peanut Butter myself has nothing to do with the quality or taste of the peanut butter but rather because of where it is sold. As far as I know the Kirkland brand is a Costco exclusive and I am not a Costco card holder. Obviously my mom is a shopper at Costco and as a result that is where she gets her organic peanut butter. I wasn’t completely sure if this was the very first time that I had tried Kirkland Organic Creamy Peanut Butter but I didn’t remember what it tasted like if I had tasted it before. I have eaten peanut butter cookies that my mom has made as well as many peanut butter sandwiches and so I assume that this was not the first time that I have tried this particular organic peanut butter.
I have tried a number of different organic peanut butters and so I know what it is that I like and what I don’t like. Prior to the Kirkland Organic Creamy Peanut Butter I had tried some Kettle Brand Roasted Fresh Unsalted Organic Creamy Peanut Butter. I ended up using the majority of this peanut butter for some cookies but I still thought it was good even if it was a little bit different not being salted and all. Before that I had also tried MaraNatha Organic No Stir Creamy Peanut Butter, Private Selection Organic Creamy Peanut Butter, Adams Organic Creamy Peanut Butter and Western Family Organic Creamy Peanut Butter. The Kirkland Organic Creamy Peanut Butter was similar to the Adam’s, Kettle and MaraNatha peanut butter in that it had to be stirred and similar in the Private Selection and Western Family peanut butter in that it came in a plastic container.
While I don’t look at an organic peanut butter having to be stirred a negative thing I do look at a plastic container for a peanut butter as a negative thing. I would much rather have my peanut butter come in a glass jar. On a positive note though I was glad to see that the Kirkland Organic Creamy Peanut Butter didn’t have added sugar to it. Its ingredients were organic dry roasted peanuts and salt. These ingredients yield some very good nutrition facts. In the standard serving size of peanut butter, two tablespoons, there is two hundred calories with one hundred and fifty calories from fat. A serving of Kirkland Organic Creamy Peanut Butter contains forty-five milligrams of sodium, seven grams of carbohydrates, two grams of both fiber and sugars and nine grams of protein. In the minerals and vitamins portion of the nutrition facts calcium is listed with two percent and iron is listed with four percent.
I enjoyed the Kirkland Organic Creamy Peanut Butter, I thought that it tasted very good. Of course I don’t see myself getting it for the fact that it comes in a plastic container and for the fact that I don’t shop at Costco. However I would recommend this organic peanut butter to anyone who did shop at Costco. In the future if this organic peanut butter was to switch to a glass jar and I shopped at Costco I would be inclined to get it myself.
