If you need a gift idea for a coffee lover, then consider making your own coffee gift basket. By putting the basket together yourself you can make a customized coffee gift that they are sure to like. Making a coffee gift basket is not difficult and will be easy to create if you just follow a few simple guidelines.

First, you need to consider what type of container to hold the gift basket. Typically, a large wicker basket is used but other containers will work well including a decorative gift box or a beautiful gift bag. In addition to a container to hold the coffee items, you will need some type of packing material. Check the gift wrap sections in your local craft store for a variety of packing materials. Popular basket filler materials include shredded colored papers, tissue paper shreds, cellophane shreds, or raffia. Make sure you have enough basket filler to comfortably cushion the coffee gifts in the basket but not too much that you don’t have room for the items you intend to place into the basket.

Coffee Gift Basket idea #1: Flavored coffees.

Obviously the main ingredient in a coffee gift basket is the coffee. If you know the coffee lover’s favorite coffee then include that brand in the basket. You’ll need to find out if they have a coffee grinder at home which will help you to choose whole bean or ground coffee in the gift basket. Some coffee brands you might consider when choosing the flavored coffees are selections from Starbucks, Gevalia, or Wolfgang Puck. You could also visit a gourmet coffee store to browse their selections. It’s nice to include a variety of coffees in the basket so try to find 2 or 3 different ones when making your choice.

Coffee Gift Basket idea#2: A Variety of flavored creamers.

There are many different flavored creamers available now. From the more traditional types like vanilla to the more gourmet blends such as amaretto, you can find creamers in your local grocery or gourmet store. Try to include a couple of different creamers in the gift basket so the coffee lover can try something new.

Coffee Gift Basket idea #3: Decorative coffee mug.

A coffee gift basket would not be complete without the inclusion of a coffee mug or two. If you can find a personalized coffee mug that would make a great addition to the coffee gift basket. If you know the coffee lover travels a lot, then you might include a travel coffee mug or even a nice thermos in the gift basket.

Coffee Gift Basket idea #4: Sugar or other sweeteners.

Most people enjoy some type of sweetener added to their coffee. You might include regular sugar or even some of the no-calorie sweetener options that have flavors such as Splenda’s flavor blends for coffee with french vanilla, mocha, and hazelnut.

Coffee Gift Basket idea #5: A special food treat.

Biscotti is a traditional food added to a coffee gift basket but you have many others options as well. You can usually find some in the coffee section in your local grocery store. Some other items to consider include chocolate chip cookies, any chocolate treat, a shortbread, or a specialty jam or jelly.
