Cozy Restaurant and Inn in Thurmont, Maryland: Review

Gas Fireplaces

Looking to get away from the big city? Or are you looking to get away from everyday suburbia? To celebrate a special occasion or take a romantic trip at any time of the year – all for a very affordable and reasonable price – visit the Cozy Country Inn bed and breakfast in Thurmont, Maryland.

Located north of Frederick, near the Pennsylvania/Maryland border, the Cozy Country Inn is a historic bed and breakfast. Close to Camp David, there is a Camp David Museum on the Inn’s grounds. Additionally, Cozy boasts the fact that presidents and cabinet members have stayed there during various administrations in the past. As such, their luxurious executive suites and premium rooms are named after presidents and other political figures.

Their top tier of rooms, the executive suites, come with everything you could wish for in a bed and breakfast. These suites come with huge, cushy, king size beds, gas fireplaces and even large Jacuzzi tubs. While rooms like this could easily cost you $300 at other bed and breakfasts, Cozy is very affordable. Their traditional rooms, while coming with fewer accommodations, are a downright steal.

If you’re looking to make your romantic trip even more memorable, visit the Cozy Restaurant. Located directly across from the Inn, the restaurant is primarily a buffet. For the true experience however, be sure to make a reservation for their private dining, fondue dinner beforehand. This extravagant feast comes with cheese fondue, bread, fruit and salad opening courses. The main course is near absurd with how much delicious food you get. Big hunks of steak, enormous lobster tails, jumbo shrimp and chicken all come with your meal. Even more fun, you get to cook it yourself in a boiling stew!

The desert plate comes equipped with a chocolate fondue and many varieties of cheesecake, cupcakes and other chocolate delicacies. And when they say private dining, they mean it. You are stashed away in a corner of the restaurant, in an out of sight, candlelit booth. A personal waitress is at hand for anything you need. The food is delicious and could easily satisfy four or more people, let alone two, so be sure to bring your appetites! As with the Inn itself, the Cozy Restaurant’s fondue dinner is extremely well priced for everything you receive; especially in comparison to stuffy, overpriced DC restaurants.

The Cozy Inn is a quick drive up from the Washington DC, Baltimore and Northern Virginia areas. As an added bonus, the bed and breakfast can serve as a halfway point to some of the ski mountains farther north and west, such as Whitetail. Whether you are seasoned bed and breakfast visitors, history buffs looking to be close to historic Camp David or a younger couple looking for a romantic trip for a night or two, the Cozy Restaurant and Country Inn is the perfect solution.
