Chug Vanilla Milk Shake

Cvs Pharmacy

A few minutes ago, I finished drinking a Chug Vanilla Milk Shake. After seeing the item in stock at CVS Pharmacy for months, I finally purchased a bottle of this real milk based beverage a couple of nights ago. While I really enjoyed the flavor of this milk shake, I was also concerned about its sugar content.

This ultra pasteurized and homogenized milk shake is distributed by Dean Foods and is stocked and sold at many American food retailers. Presented here, in an effort to assist the consumer, is one food writer’s product review of Chug Vanilla Milk Shake.

Size
The net weight of the standard sized container of Chug Vanilla Milk Shake is 12 ounces. One bottle is considered one serving, but I actually drank one half of the bottle, then re-closed and refrigerated the remainder, which I drank a few minutes ago. In physical size, the bottle measures approximately 6.5″ x 2.25″.

Price
The regular retail price that I recently paid for one 12 ounce bottle of Chug Vanilla Milk Shake at a Hartford, Connecticut CVS Pharmacy was $1.39. The item is competitively priced, when compared with similar sized beverages.

Consistency
Printed at the top of the front label on the bottle of Chug Vanilla Milk Shake are the words ‘Extra Rich & Creamy’. While this milk shake does possess a nice, creamy like consistency, I have consumed many milk shakes that have been richer and creamier.

To be honest, the first thing I thought of when I started drinking the Chug Vanilla Milk Shake, was that its consistency was thinner than I expected it to be. I thought that it seemed more like a flavored milk, than a milk shake, but I did enjoy drinking it.

Taste / Flavor
I don’t know if there is such a thing as a bad tasting vanilla milk shake. Chug Vanilla Milk Shake definitely tastes quite good, but it is very sweet. So sweet in fact, that I had to consult the product’s nutrition facts label to see what the sugar content was. When I saw that the sugar content was 66 grams, I was amazed. That is a considerable amount of sugar.

Even though this milk shake is very sweet, it still offers a delightful flavor. I would imagine that younger consumers are and / or would be fond of this beverage and the level of sugar in it would be of little concern to them. If the Chug Vanilla Milk Shake was a little thicker and offered more vanilla flavor, I think that its overall appeal would be higher. On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign this refrigerated milk shake an 8 rating.

Packaging
Chug Vanilla Milk Shake is packaged in a shapely plastic bottle that opens easily and re-closes effectively. The largely blue label features a closeup illustration of the enclosed milk shake on the front and a listing of all relevant ingredient and nutritional information on the rear.

Overall Rating
All things considered, Chug Vanilla Milk Shake is a convenient and tasty item that to my taste buds, is quite sweet. I did enjoy drinking half of the milk shake, then consuming the remainder later. This reasonably priced product is recommended, if you’re okay with the sugar level.
