Chicago’s Caravan Tours

Little Big Horn, Mt. Rushmore

Caravan Tours is based in Chicago at 401 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60611 Phone 800-Caravan or 312-321-9800 Fax 312-321-9845. They conduct tours to many places in the United States as well as Latin America and Canada. One of the best is the one to one of the most inspiring sites in the United States, Mt Rushmore, Grand Tetons & Yellowstone National Park. It is an 8 day tour and costs $995. Everything is included in the price except the costs of getting to the departure point and certain things like foods that are not on the regular menu, so all you have to bring is clothes, and I suggest you bring comfortable walking shoes and clothes that can be layered. The temperatures vary greatly from day to night and packing clothes that can be layered saves space in luggage. And don’t forget the camera.

This one of the Caravan Tours begins in Rapid City, South Dakota where you will stay at the Rapid City, South Dakota
Radisson for two nights. Be sure to attend the welcome meeting at 8Pm on the first night. You will learn all you need to know to get the best out of your Caravan Tour. Th first stop on your tour will be at Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Monuments. You will also tour the Indian Museum of North America then return to your hotel in Rapid City. Day two you go to Little Big Horn, Montana and see the spot of Genreal Custer’s defeat.

You leave Rapid City for day four and tour Cody, Wyoming, and Yellowstone National Park. You get to visit the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, The Plains Indian Museum and The Whitney Gallery of Western Art. You get to stay for two nights at one of the great hotels and lodges right in Yellowstone.

Day 5 of your Caravan Tour Yellowstone, Mammoth , You spend the hole day touring Yellowstone Park and then return to your lodging in Yellowstone. This is one thing I like about the way they do a tour. You get to stay two days in one hotel. It is a lot better than having to pack up every day and move somewhere else.

Day 6 you get to see Grand Teton National Park. If you are lucky enough to hit the good weather, you will have a picnic on the banks of the Snake River. Try to make time to see the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar, It is a seating experience you will not forget.

Day 7 you travel through the Tetons, Oregon Trail and Idaho and day 8 ends in Salt Lake City, Utah. The staff is very professional and courteous. Don’t forget, they do get a tip at the end of the tour.
