Cheap Window Treatments for Kids Bedrooms

Kids Bedrooms, Kids Shows, Window Frame, Window Treatments

Unique window treatments for kids bedrooms have been part of my own experience as a mother of a large family always looking for ways in which I could save money, while making my kids room look either cute or “hip”, depending on their age. It wasn’t always an easy task, but it usually wasn’t too difficult to accomplish after I looked at some of the resources I had with accessories of my own, as well as the kids, combined with some crafty items as well. The following paragraphs include a few cheap and unique window treatments for kids that I’ve been able to put together in my own home.

Swags and Scarves

Swags and scarves that I’ve switched from winter to summer have been a large part of the window treatments in my children’s room for years now. Depending on the weather you may find some yarn knitted scarves hanging from the window rods, or for warm weather months, you may find lighter cottons, or rayon that adorn the frames of the kids room. Either way, I’ve been able to make it look creative and unique, and have found that they are noticed by most of my house guests as a uncommon way to decorate a kids room.

Belts

Another way for me to decorate my kids room in a unique way has been with belts. Many of them have been the soft fabric types of belts that can easily be hung or draped over a curtain rod. I have found that depending how wide they are you can manipulate the fabric in ways that make the treatment look more elegant or eye catching.

Sheets

At one point when a couple of my kids were little, I had access to a number of sheets that had various Disney characters and other popular characters from kids shows. I found that I could find ways to wrap these around the curtain rod that creatively brought an artistic look to the room, along with the kids characters. A few of the neighborhood moms followed suit once they got a chance to see what I was able to do to the room with that particular look.

Foam Stickers

At one point I found that foam sticker decorations were an easy cheap way to decorate my kids room that looked unique as well. To avoid sticking them directly to the window frame, I painted a piece of cardboard that was the appropriate size and color. Then I simply used masking tape on the back of the cardboard to adhere it to the window frame. This is where I would apply the foam sticker decorations.

There are such a wide variety of foam decorations, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding something that suits the room and your own taste for your kids window treatment.
