Cheap but Beautiful Flower Stands for Weddings

Cheap Flowers, Silk Wedding Flowers, Wedding Flowers

In life there are many trade-offs. You pay a little more for this but you save so much on that. They kind of cancel each other out and you figure you did okay, overall. That’s sort of the way it is when it comes to weddings. Certain things are going to cost you: the gown, the food, the flowers. But, you can often save on other things like the decorations and the party favors. Whether you’re using real flowers at your wedding, or silk ones that look real, those flowers are going to set you back a bit. However, you can offset the cost of them by making your own flower holders.

Paper cones are so cheap. You can purchase white ones at automotive stores for pennies a piece. They can be painted, bejeweled, glittered or otherwise decorated. Or, you can make your own cones by using rolled-up scrapbook paper. Craft stores usually have a huge selection of gold, silver, white or other choices that will help you give your wedding flower holders a particular theme or color scheme. A paper cone might not sound all that impressive when it comes to decorating for a wedding but you’ll see that it actually is when you use the cone to make a table flower stand.

Look around at your local craft store and you’ll find brass rings in assorted sizes. These are ideal for making a stand that holds the paper cones, which hold the flowers. The rings are not expensive at all and you can choose the size that best fits your décor plans. Use a large ring to make a centerpiece-type flower arrangement or use much smaller ones just to make table accents.

There are several factors to deciding on the perfect flower stands for your wedding. First of all, the ring must be large enough to hold the paper cone but not so large that the cone falls through the ring. If the ring is too small, only the point of the cone will fit, and then the flowers will tip over or sit lopsided. But, if you use small rings, and really small cones, that solves that problem. When it comes to large rings it’s difficult to find paper cones that size so it will be necessary to make the cones yourself or create a different arrangement. One such alternative is to use a Styrofoam disk instead of a cone. The disk will rest atop of the brass ring rather than settle down into it like a cone.

No matter what type of arrangement you have in mind the brass ring stand will need legs. Purchase wooden dowels at a craft store. The type you should get would be ones that are about a half-inch or more in diameter. They can be any length as long as they’re tall enough to hold the ring in the air to accommodate the cone. If you’re using Styrofoam disks instead of cones the dowels can be much shorter.

To assemble the flower stands simply glue the ring to three or four painted or unpainted dowels. You’re done! Position the cone in the ring then select and arrange the flowers in the cone. If you’re using a Styrofoam disk just glue the disk to the dowels and arrange the flowers to cover the disk. The finished flower stands are perfect for decorating tables at the wedding
