Fetishes, Kill Bill, Uma Thurman

An attraction to feet doesn’t generally make its way out as a public discussion topic amongst people. However, there are those who find the lower ends of the legs to be quite sexually appealing and you may actually be amazed statistically how popular an attraction it is. This article shall touch upon what foot fetishism is and expose a few celebrities who have at one time or another confessed their love for the foot.

In technical terms someone who has a “fetish” requires the object of their obsession to be involved for their pleasure to even occur. Therefore someone with a true foot fetish would be unable to have sex unless they were stimulated via the foot in some way or form. It is probably safe to say that most people who admire feet are not strictly “hung-up” on that body feature alone and merely find it a source of excitement as opposed to the only excitement. Therefore, in this look at foot fetishes the assumption will be that the term is going to be used lightly and not actually mean “fetish” via the technical definition as found in encyclopedias.

How common are foot fetishes? Scientific studies have shown that it is the most common fetish in males. One could quote several different studies involved with coming to that sort of determination, however really scientific studies could go one way or another given different variables, so basically that statement is open to judgmental belief. However, corresponding with such studies were the accidentally released findings of AOL. The internet service provider AOL, in August of 2006, posted a database of millions of searches performed by their members for public access. They quickly corrected their error, but not before the information was saved on hard-drives by people worldwide. In searches involving sexual stimulation and fetishism foot fetish related topics reigned supreme. The results of the information however were based off of people who actual used the term “fetish” within their searches, therefore even the numbers as shown by AOL are smaller than the true percentage of searches made since someone with a foot fetish might just search simply for the word: barefoot or maybe celebrity feet?

Why do people have foot fetishes? The short answer: no one can truly say. One of the most popular theories is that the feet and the genitals occupy adjacent areas of the somatosensory cortex, possibly entailing some neural communication between the two. The mentioned cortex is a structure in the parietal lobe of the brain dealing with sensory input. Other theories abound, but once again formula variations make pinpointing the actual root cause on a whole scale impossible.

A foot fetish in the strictest of technical terms may be a hindrance in someone’s life, however what if you just find yourself attracted to the feet of the opposite sex, they arouse you, but you are not solely dependant upon them for arousal, should one be ashamed? Popular society indeed seems to shun people who admit to having a foot fetish no matter what statistics say about popularity. Yet, fashion trends and all forms of media tend to lean towards promoting the admiration and discovery of beauty in the form of the foot. Mainly the female foot, flip-flops, sandals, and open-toe shoes are abundant. So then, for those out their with a foot fetish, maybe you will not feel so alienated once you read on about some celebrities who share your same views.

Quentin Tarantino is a prominent director, writer, and sometime actor within the realms of Hollywood. In his past he was able to work with actress Uma Thurman on the films: Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill Vol. 1, and Kill Bill Vol. 2. Uma Thurman in several interviews following her working with Quentin on the Kill bill series decided to share a theory of hers on the man. According to her Tarantino would constantly film her feet and other female feet on the set; every chance he got. One could look to both Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill to see foot scenes starring Uma’s toes. Uma Thurman took it upon herself to reveal Tarantino’s affection for feet to the world. Even though males are the most prevalent practitioners of foot fetish related activities, some female celebrities are rumored to be obsessed with feet as well. However their enjoyments found with tend to center on their own and men such as Tommy or Quentin worshiping them. Model and television personality Brooke Burke seems to break that mold though with having said: ” “I like feet. I definitely have a fetish. I love to see a mans bare foot, but its got to be taken care of. If they’re not well manicured, you’ve got to wonder what the rest of him is like. I don’t want to get in bed with somebody and feel his gnarly feet.” Pertaining to her own feet, on her website she has a special section of foot pictures taken around the world, and once stated: ” If a man doesn’t love your toes, he simply doesn’t love you.”

In a world full of “freaky” possibilities or perversions, foot fetishism ,at least the not so heavy technical usage of the phrase, seems more common than thought. Whatever the attraction may be ranging from size, shape, toes, soles, smell, to acts performed by the foot to even more elaborate of specific erotica, admiration for the foot as a body part capable of sexual stimulation is a shared admiration amongst celebrities and non-celebrities. Perhaps more and more people will slowly come to accepting such quirks in sexual preference, once again I state when not a deviant extreme or harmful definition, and all can live happy and free. Then again it may make women think twice about wearing those flip-flops, or perhaps the opposite will be true and they’ll make sure to show off their favorite polish?
