Calypso’s Oils – from Skin Biology

Calypso, Mood Enhancers, Pheromones, Skin Repair

Skin Biology’s Claypso’s Oils are light, moisturizing body oils with mood enhancers (that you choose) and a bonding pheromone. Calypso’s Oil comes in versions with added pure essential fragrant oils such as lavender, jasmine, ylang ylang, and pheromones. Lavender soothes the skin and aids relaxation. Jasmine, ylang ylang and pheromone SB-74 increase interpersonal attraction, have mild aphrodisiac qualities and increase the feeling of interpersonal bonding.

The Science:
Copper-Peptides and the Skin’s Sexual Pheromones
Pheromones are the natural odors that act as mood enhancers, sexual attractants and bonding factors. There are numerous human pheromones that serve various purposes, not just the obvious “attraction” function.

A primary source of pheromones are the apocrine glands that are associated with hair follicles. Studies of the action of copper peptides have found that they increase the size of the apocrine glands. As we get older, the secretion of sexual pheromones decreases which decreases our pheromone associated attraction to others. So it only makes sense that the application of copper-peptides to the skin could help increase the production of attractive pheromone – not to mention what it would do for the skin’s health!

SB-74 – Pheromone SB-74 is a natural oil product developed by Skin Biology during a search for mood enhancers that would improve inter-personal feelings (but not as an aphrodisiac like jasmine or ylang ylang.) SB-74 seems to generate positive feelings and increased bonding. Users say it increases friendliness, warmth, affability, fondness, affection and sociability, It is somewhat like musk but is not an aphrodisiac.

Here’s Dr. Pickart’s Usage Guide for Calypso’s Oils

Using the Oils
On Normal Skin

“The easiest way to use Calypso’s Oil is to apply it to your skin in the morning or before bed. Apply it to your torso and skin areas that may be too dry or irritated such as elbows, hands, and feet. ”

After Bath or Shower

“While your skin is still damp, you can rub the oil on your skin to impart a silky smoothness to your skin. Then pat dry with a towel. ”

In Your Bath

Add to the bath water to soften and protect your skin as you bathe. The oil will float to the surface and adhere to your skin as you leave the bath. ”

For Attraction and Bonding

“For attraction of others, you should not always use an oil that you personally prefer. For example, patchouli oil is loved by women but not men. It is felt to mimic sweat pheromones from men that attract women. So if you use patchouli oil, you may increase your attractiveness to women but not to men. Ylang Ylang Oil, on the other hand, seems to have stronger effects on men.

“Some oils seem to enhance mutual attraction such as musk and sandalwood. Jasmine attracts women but most men also like jasmine. ”

Testing Calypso’s Oil

“By using an appropriate version of Calypso’s Oil on your body – instead of a perfume – you can strongly modify your personal pheromone signature. To test the effects of a version, after you normally bath or shower and dry yourself, rub Calypso’s Oil on your torso – especially the chest and breast area. If you bathe at night, the oil can be applied to your dry skin in the morning. The heat of your body will evaporate the scents and then blend the pheromones and scents in Calypso’s Oil into your body pheromone signature.

“Dress normally and go about your daily work and visits. Responsive people unconsciously notice you at about 3 to 5 feet. Watch for people who unexpectedly turn around and smile at you or extend conversations. (This a little like trolling for salmon with different lures – it takes some time but you find the right lure.)

Aromatic molecules travel through the air at about 200 miles per hour. So people will become aware of the your pheromones and scents – even if it is at an unconscious level.

“Try one thing one day – another the next. You will become aware of the pattern of people who are responding to you and can decide what scent works best for you.

While general responses of people to essential oils and pheromones can be predicted, some humans may react differently. For attraction of, or bonding to, women Jasmine and SB-74 or Patchouli and SB-74 are very good. Ylang Ylang is considered a strong aphrodisiac for men and might be a good attractant for men. Sandalwood is similar to musk which is considered the universal attractant. But also keep the jasmine for men since it is the traditional favorite of French women who know how to attract anything.

“For relaxation or romance, rub the oils on your body (and your best friend). Effects take about 10 minutes to manifest. ”

Body Oils to Improve Skin Health

Body oils aid skin moisturization by providing a biological barrier that slows water loss through the skin. This can help aid skin repair and is especially useful for treating dry skin. For more see Biological Moisturizers. ”

Many Cosmetic Moisturizers and Emollients Damage Skin

Body oils are better than many moisturizers and emollients sold by skin care companies. These products delay the healing of irritated and damaged skin and make the situation worse by inhibiting natural skin repair. According to Dr. Halker-Sorenson (Skandborg, Denmark), new computerized instruments have demonstrated that many popular moisturizers increase skin damage in methods similar to skin irritants.

“Nor are skin barrier creams an answer such as those containing petrolatum and lanolin. Dr. Charles Ellis (Ann Arbor, Michigan) commented, “In my experience and from what I can garner (from the literature), I don’t think they work very well. What we need is to protect the skin surface and to heal the skin from within, by putting the skin in a situation in which normal skin repair can occur.” (from: Skin and Allergy News, April 1997)

`Virtually all popular moisturizers and emollients sold by skin care companies contain high concentrations of detergent-like chemicals, despite 40 years of scientific evidence that these detergents damage the skin and degrade the skin’s natural protective function. Often they are filled with cheap chemicals and rarely with expensive oils.
Also damaging to skin are many of the dyes and optical diffusers used to give the appearance of healthy skin. Another, mistake is to add to skin creams certain lipids that occur naturally in the skin, hoping that this replenishes skin lipids and improves skin health. However, what recent research has found, is that adding natural skin fats and lipids to skin creams cause a reduction in the skin’s natural biosynthesis of skin fats and lipids so that, in a few weeks, the skin is in worse condition than before.

“Even natural plant products can damage skin. Many skin care companies advertise the value of various combinations of exotic plant extracts in their products. This is no assurance of safety or effectiveness. Many plants avoid being eaten by insects, birds, and mammals because they are filled with poisons and carcinogens which can irritate and damage skin. When evaluating skin products, one should always ask the salesperson where to find published, independent clinical studies that support the product claims (but don’t expect to be able to be provided with such). ”
