While shopping at a Walgreens Pharmacy recently, I happened to notice a sale display of canned Butterball Chicken Broth. Being familiar with Butterball’s excellent poultry products, I decided to purchase a can of this broth.
This product has impressed me enough to want to write a review of it. Presented here, as a service to the consumer at large, is an article which reviews and examines Butterball Chicken Broth.

The net weight of the standard sized container of Butterball Chicken Broth is 14.5 ounces. According to the product’s nutrition facts label, the container holds about two 1 cup servings of broth. In physical size, the container is roughly the same size as many cans of soup, vegetables or gravy.
Price
The regular retail price charged for one 14.5 ounce container of Butterball Chicken Broth at Hartford, Connecticut area supermarkets is approximately $0.99c. When I purchased a can of this broth at a Walgreens Pharmacy last week, the item was on sale for 2/$1.
Consistency / Texture
This chicken broth is a liquid item that is a little bit thicker than plain water. The broth can be used in a multitude of dishes and it works great as stock, or the base for soups and sauces. It can be used in place of water in many dishes and it is great for boiling or simmering other items in. Butterball Chicken Broth is also not overly greasy.

Butterball Chicken Broth contains 10 calories, with 0 calories from fat, per one cup serving. Taste / Flavor
Through the years, I have tasted and utilized several different brands of canned chicken broth. Also, with extensive experience as a restaurant cook, I have prepared and cooked chicken stock many times. To me, Butterball Chicken Broth tastes more like real chicken stock than the other brands I’ve tried. When I opened the can, I tasted a spoonful of the broth and it closely resembled the flavor of real chicken stock.
The day after I purchased the can of Butterball Chicken Broth, I used half of it in a chicken and potato dish. After reducing the sauce, it offered a delightful flavor. The other half of the can was thickened with corn starch two nights later, along with some tomato sauce, for an impromptu sauce. Once again, the flavor was very good.
On a flavor scale of one through ten, I would assign this product a rating of 9.5.
Packaging
Butterball Chicken Broth is packaged in a standard type metal can. The largely blue and yellow front label features an illustration of a ladle pouring some of the broth on top of some chicken and mashed potatoes and the rear label lists all pertinent ingredient and nutritional information.
Overall Rating
Canned chicken broth is a good food staple to have on hand in one’s pantry. Although there was already a can of another brands’ chicken broth in my cupboard, I really wanted to try the Butterball Chicken Broth and I’m glad that I did so. Not only is this delicious brand of chicken broth delicious, but it is also 99% fat free.
It makes sense that a chicken broth made by a top rate poultry company would be outstanding. Every Butterball product I have eaten, including their famous turkeys, sliced lunch meat and now, this broth, has been above average in flavor and overall quality. Butterball Chicken Broth is highly recommended by this food writer.
