The Bursa Triggerfish is one of the only Triggerfish which is great for a beginner. This fish is very easy to care for as long as you have all the ranges in the correct level. This fish is also very colorful and it has a great personality. Tiggerfish are well known in the pet stores because they have teeth and often show them off infront of different customers. The Bursa Triggerfish is usually cream, light orange and yellow. Most of the other Triggerfish are blues, blacks or greys. This is the only Tiggerfish with this unique color sequence. The fish is really a wonderful addition to any saltwater aquarium.
This fish does not get as large as some other types of saltwater fish. The Bursa Triggerfish will get to be about seven or eight inches in length. This means that you will need to have at least a fifty-five gallon tank in order to keep this fish. The Bursa Triggerfish will do very well in a large aquarium with many different hiding places. This fish is not reef compabitible however, which means that you can only place this fish into a saltwater aquarium without coral. You cannot place this Triggerfish with coral because it will eat little pieces of worms and other things growing off of the coral. You can still have plenty of live rock, but this fish would destroy a reef tank.
This fish is also somewhat aggressive and territorial. This means that you will want to provide all of your fish with plenty of hiding places. You should only place one aggressive fish in each tank. If you have two aggressive fish this means that one will usually end up sick or dead. If one of your fish get’s sick you will have to treat all the fish in the tank. When fish get chased around they get very stressed out and their immune system because that much more vulnerable to illnesses. If you provide all your fish with enough hiding places, you will not have any problems.
This fish is a very aggressive eater as well. Triggerfish are like some types of rodents, they have very sharp teeth which continue to grow. You will need to feed this fish a wide variety of meaty foods such as clams and other items. You can feed this fish different types of feeder fish or even feed the fish feeder shrimp. You can also purchase different types of frozen foods such as krill, brine shrimp and mysis shrimp. You will want to check out all of the frozen items located inside of the freezer at your local pet store. These fish need something hard in their diet to grind down the teeth that will continue to grow. If the teeth do not get grinded down, the fish will eventually stop eating because it will become too painful.
