Located in Northern Africa, Morocco has inspired a design trend. The Moroccan style of décor uses a lot of brilliant, beautiful colors and plenty of bold lighting. You may be unaware of what to expect when you hear “Moroccan style,” but if you love color – you’ll be pleasantly surprised by what you find.
Various shades of the blue and green drawn from the ocean are popular in the Moroccan color palette, however just about any color can be found somewhere. Aside from the blue and green, red is also a very popular color choice for Moroccan design. In addition to this, yellows, silver and gold are also very, very popular. Like many color palettes, the Moroccan color scheme is derived from the surrounding landscapes and other influences taken from nature.
Furniture
Moroccan furniture is surprisingly simple. Generally, sofas and corresponding tables are set lower to the ground to create an inviting and comforting feel. However, it’s not uncommon to find elaborate wrought iron designs as well as ornate carvings in the wood. Colors remain bright as to match the rest of the décor and they can come in a solid color or they can involve a mosaic pattern.
Morocco is a tropical area. Exotic plants are the norm. In fact, when decorating with a Moroccan styled theme, you should aim for a tropical and exotic feel. Morocco is a melting pot of designs from several different cultures. Many designs are a mixture of influences from the Mediterranean area as well as styles from Portugal, Spain, France and the surrounding African countries. It is truly a unique and one-of-a-kind design style.

There are also plenty of pillows and throws found in Moroccan design. Comfort is a big must-have for this design, but for Moroccans, comfort doesn’t necessarily mean it has to be unattractive. They’re all about beautiful, lush fabrics with vibrant colors.
