Blow, Blow, Blow You Nose: Puffs Vs. Kleenex

Kleenex

If you are like many, you rate a good tear-jerker movie in the number of tissues you need at the end of the film. Maybe you simply suffer from allergies. Sometimes we all get a bad cold or sinus infection that causes our nose to run. Whatever the reason, at some point, you and your family will need a good tissue or two.

Facial tissues are used to wipe tears from crying eyes and catch germs from a flying sneeze. Such important jobs call for a fabulous tissue. My family will ask for a Kleenex when they need a facial tissue, but sometimes we use Puffs instead. Which one is best?

Although my family calls any facial tissue a Kleenex, there really is a difference. For anyone who has ever used a single-ply, hard as stone tissue, you know the difference. You want the tissue, not your hand, to catch your sneeze caused by that pesky virus. The point of disposable facial tissues is to capture germs. For this reason, we want to choose a strong and durable tissue such as Puffs or Kleenex.

Kleenex brand tissues are terrific. Large box or small, these tissues can handle tears from a kiddie booboo or your child’s runny nose. The Kleenex tissue is thick and durable. I appreciate the softness of this facial tissue, but it can’t compare to the comfort of Puffs.

I absolutely love Puffs tissues. The variety with lotion is my favorite. Puffs Plus are not only strong and durable, like the Kleenex brand, but soothing, as well.

The Puffs tissues can take the force of my strongest sneeze. When my allergies flare up I don’t go anywhere without my Puffs Plus. The lotion found in the tissues helps my nose. After days of nasal allergy symptoms, my poor nose gets so red and uncomfortable. It becomes aggravated by repeated contact with tissues regardless of how soft they may be.

Kleenex and Puffs are undoubtedly the softest brands of tissues available. For the average box of tissues on the back of the commode, I typically choose the Kleenex brand. They are handy for the occasional runny nose or cleaning my family’s glasses. Because they have no lotion or other additives, my kids grab a Kleenex to gently rub the lenses clean without scratching them.

But, when it comes to those times when my nose needs pampering, it is the Puffs that beat the competition. My nose knows the difference. When my allergies get my sinuses in an uproar, I will send my husband out for a box of Puffs every time over the Kleenex.

My children are required to take two boxes of tissues to school each year. Typically, they choose the Kleenex brand. The kids love the fun designs on the packaging featured at the beginning of the school year. When it comes to the kids, they don’t appreciate floral design boxes. They like the ones with the school buses or crayon design.

I have found the opening of the Kleenex box to be easy to open, but harder to start the first few tissues from the container. The large opening available on the Puffs containers are typically easier for little hands, in my experience.

Whether you tote your tissues to the theatre, pack them in your purse, or park them in the bathroom you always want to have one within your reach when the moment strikes with the first tear, or tickle of your nose.

Both, Kleenex and Puffs are excellent brands of facial tissue, but Puffs soft and durable wins out over Kleenex for my family when the nose gets going. The lotion found in Puffs Plus takes care of your nose while you are taking care of your health.
