Big Y Self-Rising Pepperoni Pizza: Review

Digiorno, Pepperoni, Pepperoni Pizza, Pizza Review

For busy families a Big Y Self-Rising Pepperoni Pizza makes a cheap and quick meal. For less than six dollars you can feed the family with a delicious pizza you bake yourself.

Big Y Self-Rising Pepperoni Pizza Description

The Big Y Self-Rising Pepperoni Pizza is frozen pizza that is extremely tasty. The pizza dough rises while it cooks, making for a nice doughy crust. The Big Y Self-Rising Pepperoni Pizza is covered with slices of thin pepperoni.

There is a lot of cheese on the pie. Personally, I find that there is too much tomato sauce on this brand of frozen pizza, but the kids do not seem to mind.

Big Y Self-Rising Pepperoni Pizza Value

For five or six dollars, depending on the sale price, you can buy this large pizza which weighs in at one pound and 13.6 ounces. The size and density of this frozen food make it a good value meal.

I find that when I serve a side salad and some fruit with the cooked pie, it can feed the family a quick lunch.

Big Y Self-Rising Pepperoni Pizza Convenience

This cheap frozen food is incredibly easy to cook. Simply remove it from the box, remove the plastic wrapper, and the cardboard circle from the bottom. Place it on a large cookie sheet and bake. It takes about 25 minutes.

Tip: Do not forget to remove the cardboard circle from the bottom of the pie. I did this the first time I cooked a frozen pizza. We never had frozen anything I was growing up, and it’s not something I had ever cooked before. If you cook this frozen food with the cardboard on the bottom, the dough will not rise correctly and will be sort of mushy.

Store Brand vs. Name Brand

This is a good pizza for a store brand pizza. It is heartier and tastier than a Tombstone frozen pizza. it is not quite up to DiGiorno standards, but it is an acceptable and cheaper alternative. When the Big Y Self-Rising Pepperoni Pizza is on sale, it can cost half as much as the Digiorno equivalent product.

The kids do not seem to be able to tell the difference between the Big Y brand and other brands. They just know it’s pizza and that makes them happy.

Nutrition

This is not the most nutritious lunch. It is best served for a quick and convenient lunch, once a week at most.

Should You Buy It?

If you are looking for a quick meal idea that is cheap, then Big Y Self-Rising Pepperoni Pizza is a good buy. It is not the healthiest food, but most pizza is not all that great for any diet anyway. As an occasional meal of convenience, the Big Y Self-Rising Pepperoni Pizza will fit your budget.
