If you are looking for a place to walk, picnic, bird watch, or just hang out and enjoy some greenery, Houston, Texas has some terrific parks where you can do just that. Below are just five of the many parks you can find where you can go to play with your children or just relax and enjoy some of the beauty of nature.

Memorial
. Memorial Park consist of over 1,500 acres of woods, with over 30 miles of trails for hiking and biking. There is also a golf course, tennis courts, softball fields, volleyball courts, and even a croquet course! Houston’s Memorial Park is one of the largest in the country, even larger than New York’s Central Park. Buffalo Bayou. Located on Allen Parkway in Houston, Texas, this beautiful park is where the city holds its Fourth of July fireworks display each year. There are hiking and biking trails, as well as exercise stations, located in the park, and also a children’s park, a golf course, and even an informal dog park. Seven amazing sculptures, entitled “Tolerance” are located along the north bank of the bayou, and in the evening they are lit from within, making a spectacular view.
