Because 10-year-old Malia Obama is allergic to dogs, the Obama family needs to find a breed of dog that will not cause discomfort or allergic reactions. There are quite a number of hypoallergenic dogs from which the Obamas could choose. Here are the top hypoallergenic dog candidates that the Obama family should look at before they make a final selection on which ones should move into the White House.

The Obamas have also said they would like to adopt a dog from a shelter. There are rescue organizations and shelters which house purebreds and mixed breeds, like the ones ranked below.
