Best Happy Hours in Downtown Austin

After Work Happy Hour In, Bar Food, Corndogs, Downtown Austin, Happy Hour

Lambert’s BBQ
(401 West 2nd Street, 512.494.1500)

Hands down, this is my favorite BBQ spot in Austin, Texas. The Happy Hour is better than most because it’s seven days a week (from 5PM to 7PM), whereas most downtown destinations offer Happy Hour just Monday through Friday. At Lambert’s, you can enjoy $2.00 off all drinks and 1/2 off appetizers and bar food during the hour called happy. Come for the Happy Hour, stay for the music in the upstairs bar. You’ve got to try the Frito pie!

Sundays at Z’Tejas Southwestern Grill
(110 West 6th Street, 512.478.5355)

My smoochie and I never miss Sundays at Z-Tejas. While their normal Happy Hour is Monday through Friday from 4PM to 7PM, Sunday is all day Happy Hour in the Annex Bar at Z’Tejas. Appetizers are 1/2 off and, in most cases, just as satisfying as their dinner entrees. Plus, you get fresh FREE cornbread, baked every 30 minutes. The wait staff is great here, and the Sunday entertainment lineup never disappoints. The Millionaire Margarita will knock you on your ass. The Green Chili Pulled Pork Nachos and Table-side Guacamole usually help my stomach with the alcohol absorbing process…

Austin Land & Cattle
(1205 North Lamar Boulevard, 512.472.1813)

Austin Land & Cattle’s Happy Hour drinks are so cheap, they’ll make you feel like you’re at a college dive bar, but I assure you, this place is far too swanky for a dive reference. From 5PM to 7PM Monday through Friday, wells are only $3.00, calls are $4.00, and specialty martinis are just $5.00. And the bar food is crazy cheap, too. The meat sampler (yes, you get to try a few ounces of each: filet, sirloin, and ribeye) is just $9.00 and comes with your choice of sauce (creamy jalapeno horseradish is the best). Oh, and did I mention the 1/2 pound ACL burger is just $4.50? The Dirty Tito’s Martini is extra dirty, by the way.

219 West
(219 West 4th Street, 512.474.2194)

If you want to stay happier longer (and who doesn’t?), 219 West is the spot. Weekday Happy Hour is 5PM to 9PM, Saturdays from 5PM to 8PM, and now Sundays from 6PM to 8PM. With more awards for their Happy Hour than any other multi-venue bar and restaurant in the state of Texas, 219’s sophisticated atmosphere and quirky menu will keep you coming back for more. Give the Cocktail Corndogs and Chipotle Mac & Cheese a try. Top it off with a Fried Twinkie and Strawberry Sauce. I dare you!

Six Lounge
117 West 4th Street, 512.472.6662

Looking to really get your swerve on and people watch? Check out the roof-top patio at Six Lounge, where they serve ’em up stiff, let me tell ya. Monday through Friday from 5PM to 9PM, enjoy $3.00 (very strong!) well drinks and $2.00 domestics. When there’s an event or music festival going on in the Warehouse district, this is the only spot that let’s you get a view of it all. It’s roof-top, baby. Just the way you like it.
