Best Frankenstein Themed Decorating Ideas

Frankenstein, Restaurant Management

Are you a Frankenstein fan? If so, has your adoration for the green skinned creature spurred you to plan a Frankenstein themed party this year? Well then, you may want to take a few minutes out of your party planning activities to check out my list of Frankenstein themed party decorating ideas. Here it is:

Life Sized Frankenstein

Let’s be frank. You can’t have a Frankenstein themed party without the big man himself. There are many different party supply shops that sell life sized, cardboard cut-outs and blow up figures of Frankenstein that you may want to consider using. Personally, I prefer something more substantial. I’d suggest that you purchase a Frankenstein mask and create your own monster. Oriental Trading sells a Frankenstein mask for $55 that is very detailed. You could use the mask, along with an inexpensive dress form, to build your own version of Frankenstein. If you can’t find an inexpensive dress form, you may want to mold Frankenstein’s body out of chicken wire and cover it with paper mache or old clothes. If you are not feeling crafty at all, Spirit Halloween sells a life-sized, motion-activated Frankenstein for $300.

Frankenstein’s Lab

Because Frankenstein was born in a lab, you may want to temporarily convert a portion of your home into one. For instance, you could fill jars with watered down apple juice and creepy looking, faux body parts. The watered down apple juice is supposed to represent formaldehyde but you may want to fill your jars with red or green colored water instead. It’s up to you. You might also want to consider creating a faux voltage meter as well as set up a handful of beakers and test tubes. There are several retailers that sell test tubes and beakers to night clubs and restaurants for theme party use. One such retailer is Bar Supply Warehouse. Based on my experience, a dozen plastic test tubes will typically cost you less than $4. There are also companies, like Indigo Instruments, that sell glass lab beakers, graduated tubes, cylinders and other items that would undoubtedly work well in your faux Frankenstein lab.

Faux Body Parts

If you really want to make your guests squirm, you may want to consider outfitting your tables with faux body parts. For example, you could use faux fingers to create napkin rings and attach faux hands to the tops of your chafing dish lids. A great place to find faux body parts for your Frankenstein party is Dapper Cadaver. The company sells realistic, flesh-toned, faux fingers for $4 each. You could always leave the flesh-toned finger the way it is or spray paint it green to look like one of Frankenstein’s fingers. The company also sells fake feet, fake arms, fake organs and a host of other items that would undoubtedly leave your party guests stunned.
