Best Dog Parks, Dog Parks In, Off Leash Dog Parks, Small Dogs

We are always on the lookout for places that welcome our furry friends. Especially places for them to run free and play, where they are safe. All of these parks are doggie-tested and doggie-mom approved. They made the list because they provide a safe, fun environment for doggies to play. These are the best doggie parks in Palm Springs, and the surrounding areas.

By far the best place in Palm Springs, is the Palm Springs Dog Park, located at 222 Civic Drive North(and Tahquitz Canyon Way, behind City Hall). With a separate fenced area for small dogs, everyone is welcome to play here. There are plenty of trees and canopies that provide shady areas, which is a must in the summer desert heat. Drinking fountains for you and your dog, pooper-scoopers available for use, and the doggies restroom facilities (11 antique fire hydrants), really make this place stand out above the rest. This dog park is funded entirely by donations from doggie lovers, which makes it an extra special place for our furry-friends. The dog park is in a nice neighborhood and is lit up at night. Parking is located right out front.

The next best place, is the Civic Center Dog Park in Palm Desert, located at 73510 Fred Waring Drive (and San Pablo). This ¾ acre grassy, fenced-in park has plenty of nice shady areas with picnic tables. There are two separate areas for dog to run free; one for small dogs (under 25lbs.), and the other for larger dogs. The park is well-maintained and there are pooper-scoopers to clean up after your pup. The park is open at dawn and closes at 11pm. Parking is a short walk to the park (nice area) and it is lit up at night. The dog park is only a small piece of the 70-acre neighborhood park that it is attached to, so it is a great place for the whole family.

To keep the dog parks open and enjoyable for everyone, here are a few simple tips to remember when visiting:

1. Clean up after your pet. Most of these parks provide pooper-scoopers, and/or bags to clean up after your dog. At some parks, you can actually be cited for not removing your pet waste.

2. Do not bring your dog to the park if he or she, is aggressive, unruly, or is a female dog in heat. If you are training or trying to socialize your dog, keep them on a leash until they learn to obey you and respect other dogs.

3. Be sure to put a leash on your dog, when you are outside of the fenced-in “dog park” areas.

Please note:
Most of the parks on this list require your dog to wear a current licensing tag and have current vaccinations.
