Benefits of Kuma Sutra for Married Couples

Married Couples

Do you find the sex in your marriage boring and a bit predictable? Would you like to spice up the sexual intimacy in your marriage? If you answered, “yes” then Kuma Sutra could be just the thing to bring back the sexual sizzle in your marriage. To help understand what frequently happens to the sexual intimacy of couples that have been married for a long time and the benefits of Kuma Sutra for married couples, I have interviewed sex therapist Dr. Debra Laino.

Tell me a little bit about yourself.
“I am a sex therapist in Delaware and the Philadelphia region. I have a DHS (doctorate in human sexuality) a Master’s degree in Education (M.Ed), and a Masters degree in psychology (MS). I am board certified by three professional boards (you can also visit my website at delawaresexdoc.com to get more information about me).

I teach for several Universities, I have a private practice and I do a lot of media work.”

What frequently happens to the sexual intimacy of couples that have been married for a long time?
“Very few couples can keep the intimacy going long term. These couples actually work hard to make their relationship great with solid communication, making time for one another and solid skills in problem solving.

On the other hand most couples start to downslide at some point and it could appear as though they begin to unknowingly take each other for granted. These show up in things like lack of touching, lack of kissing, lack of love making, lack of communication as well as a lack of making efforts to look attractive for their partners (as they once did). Often what starts to happen is couples become either roommates or good friends living together with low intimacy in their relationships.”

What is Kuma Sutra?
“Technically the Kama Sutra is an ancient Indian text that is believed to be the original human sexuality text. Kama means sensual or sexual pleasure and sutra meaning the bind that holds things together.

What the Kama Sutra is known more for today is a book of sexual positions. Some believe it to be pornography (believe it or not) and others because it is not their own culture appear to be intimidated by it.”

How can a married couple benefit from Kuma Sutra?
“Often couples get into the monotony of their relationship. Sex becomes either boring, a chore, or a just a release. Kama Sutra positions can help a couple become more creative with sex as well as learn how to be more intimate with one another. In addition just the simple fact of trying new things together often can bring about a renewed sense of intimacy (allows dopamine, adrenaline, and oxytocin to flow through the system all necessary neurochemicals for a renewed sense of intimacy and connection).

In addition, if there are any issues with penis size or cervical placement, the Kama Sutra can dictate positions where these issues will lesson and sexual behavior can become more enjoyable.

Where can married couples get information and further learn about Kuma Sutra?
My first answer to this is a larger bookstore like Barnes and Noble. A couple can pick up a book with colored images in it and really practice the positions and read up on the meanings of the position with essentially a guide.

The next thought is obviously the Internet. The Internet has thousands if not more pages on the Kama Sutra for couples to learn positions and history as well as meaning of the Kama Sutra.”

What last words would you like to leave for a married couple that is considering Kuma Sutra to spice up their sexual intimacy?
“Do not be intimidated by it. Often times people become intimidated by things of different cultures. The Kama Sutra is a real educational experience on the concept of sensuality and sexuality something that most people are not taught and has a difficult time maintaining. A relationship can be a wonderful thing when it is connected. Try some of the positions in the Kama Sutra but also work on communicating a bit better and you will see that your relationship will feel more bonded and each person will start to feel a sense of connection.”
