AutoZone Rewards – a Great Way to Save Money

Are you into fixing cars for fun? Or are you like me and drive a car that won’t stay together? Either way if you need car parts and want to save some cash when buying parts then you should become a member of the AutoZone Rewards Club. Its totally free to join and all they ask is your name, address and phone number. So far they haven’t sent me any bull crap junk mail and don’t solicit me at all hours of the night on the telephone, so I am going to go ahead and say it’s a safe bet to get the card. You won’t regret the choice.

So first the AutoZone Rewards Club is a simple card much like your Dillon’s or Chopper Shopper Card (or if those don’t exist where you live then any card that a store makes you sign up for to get good deals). You keep the card with you and when ever you make a purchase at AutoZone for more than $20 bucks they scan your card and it tracks the purchases. When you have made 5 purchases of $20 bucks or more then the card automatically acts like a gift card and you get $20 bucks towards your next purchase. It’s a pretty sweet deal for not having to do anything except buy parts and let them scan a card.

They have a website that is dedicated to servicing all members that have the rewards card and you can check it out at (www.autozonerewards.com). It is very easy to register and start accessing the site, it provides you with all the information you could ever want to know about the AutoZone Rewards program. The website also allows you to track your points and money earned which can come in handy when you forget over the years all of the purchases you have made at AutoZone. It’s a fairly easy to navigate site and even a novice can use it. On the home page screen you are shown your credits earned and how many more you need to get to get your $20. They also have a section for contacting them to dispute problems or just general questions about the program.

To sign up for the AutoZone Rewards you just have to go to AutoZone and when you make a purchase if they cashier doesn’t ask you to join tell them you want to join. They will get you a card and take your info, then they will scan you card and you will start gaining points and potential earnings towards free stuff.

I have used this card a lot and found a flaw in their system that a lot of us could use to our advantage if they AutoZone doesn’t pick up on it soon. I went in and bought a wire set for my car, installed them and they weren’t the problem with my car, so I returned them since AutoZone has the awesome “if it doesn’t fix it return it” policy and I bought an ignition coil instead and was again credited a credit onto my card for spending over $20 bucks. Well I still have only spent $40 and now am one step closer to getting $20 off on my next purchase, I guess if you wanted you could do this until you got the $20 credit and potentially get you part for $20 cheaper. I haven’t abused the policy but I say go for it until they catch it.

I also recommend if you want to buy say $100 dollars worth of parts, buy them one at a time. Go in and buy you $50 dollar set of wires get a credit on your AutoZone Rewards card. Then go back in and buy you next part that is over $20 bucks and get the next credit, do this until you have bought all of your parts, there is nothing on the rewards program that says this isn’t allowed. Take advantage of this program there are a lot of loop holes that can be exploited to save you money.

I personally love the program because I have to buy a lot of nit picky parts for my car because my engine is solid but other parts are starting to wear down. I will be using all the loop holes to my advantage, especially if the part doesn’t fix my problem, I pretty much fell upon this exploit by default. I didn’t intend on returning the part and getting another for a second credit on the Rewards Card but it worked out to my advantage. I suggest you do this as often as you can before they realize the problem and I am sure someone will be a Good Samaritan eventually and let AutoZone know their system has a flaw.

Even if you don’t exploit the flaws this is still a good system for the AutoZone customers it will eventually save you money if you either fix cars for fun and are always buying parts; or if you fix your piece of junk a lot because it’s falling apart, as it the case with me. I like to save money and I like to exploit faults in systems and I hope I have helped you out a little bit to, we all like to save money and this could save you a lot.
