If you love the look of paint furniture, then you will love this creamy antique finish on any piece of furniture in your home, including your dining room sideboard!
Here is a list of supplies you will need to start making this Antique Cream English Country Side Board:
Primer
Paint (Ivory Lace and White Duck from Sherwin Williams)
Roller paint brushes
a variety of 2″, 3″, or 4″ paintbrushes
Sandpaper
Drop clothes
Side Board or Dining Room Buffet

Tip: My favorite combination of paint colors is Ivory Lace and White Duck from Sherwin Williams. This sweet creamy look is perfect for downsizing a large and dark sideboard or buffet in a small or shabby chic dining room.
Now, start sanding the surface of your plain Side Board.
Now, you are ready to put a coat of primer. If you are using a cheap fake wood Side Board this is a very important step.
Allow your primer to dry completely.
Put on a coat of your base paint. This is the white duck color from Sherwin Williams. You can use two coats as needed. For a super old look try caking the paint on with a brush! Just do not let any drips happen!
Now you are ready to antique your sideboard by dry brushing the Ivory Lace paint color onto the surface.
To do this simple get a new paint tray. Pour some of the Ivory Lace paint form Sherwin Williams in there.
Now, take a stiff bristled brush and lightly dip it into the paint abode ½ an inch.
Now, dab it off on some newspaper. Leave on a little on the brush.
Now, start working your paint across the surface of your side board. Follow the grain of the wood.
Tip: Work in one direction on each side. To much direction will look messy and unprofessional on this creamy antique paint finish.
Once your Creamy White English Country Side Board color has dried you are ready to start roughing it up. Start by using the sand paper to rough up edges and other areas that would typically be used over time.
Once you have finished sanding the Side Board surface wipe the surface down with a clean dry cloth. That old white t-shirt will work well here again.
Now, you need to dry brush your Ivory Lace paint on the surface again. Do this exactly like before, making the rustic lines on each surface of the sideboard. You can do this process until you achieve the Antique White English Country Dining Room Buffet look you want for your dining room.
Tip: If you want a rough more rustic English Country Side Board try putting the primer on with one of the 4″ brushes. This will give texture and create the look of real wood. If you prefer the smoother look you can roll the primer and base paint on with any type of paint roller. A foam roller will create the smoothest surface.
