Angelina Jolie’s Lips and Neosporin Lip Treatment

Analgesic, Lip Injections, Lip Treatment, Neosporin

Aside from actually going in for some collagen lip injections, I began my search for a miracle product that would make my lips smooth, soft, and full. The extreme temperatures of hot summers and frigid winters always leave my lips feeling dry, sometimes cracked, and begging for some moisture relief. Nothing looks worse than lipstick on dry, peeling lips! I have accepted the fact that I may never actually have Angelina’s fully-plumped lips, but I really wanted something to give me a smooth and healthy grin.

Neosporin Lip Treatment came to my rescue! I found this tube of lip treatment at Target. The key word is “treatment” for this lip healing product. It is stronger than the average flavored lip balm and contains both a skin protectant and an external analgesic. The package label states that Neosporin Lip Treatment helps heal the symptoms of painful cold sores and/or severely dry, chapped lips. The analgesic offers something for any pain associated with such symptoms, while the moisturizing ingredients work to restore your lips to a healthier state.

The Ingredients that Promote Healing

Neosporin Lip Treatment contains both active and inactive ingredients. The active ingredients are Allantoin 1.5% (a skin protectant) and Pramoxine HCI 1% (an external analgesic). The inactive ingredients include petrolatum, vitamin E, olive oil, cocoa butter, cottonseed oil, sodium pyruvate, flavor, and propylparaben, as stated on the package.

The scent reminded me of the orange Dimetapp cough syrup for kids. A light orangey scent is noticed upon application, but the taste is a bit jarring. Unlike other flavored lip balms, I do not recommend tasting this lip treatment. My mistake was getting a bit on my tongue when I first applied it and then getting a taste of something that sort of tingled and had a bitter edge to it. The package does warn to keep out of reach of children and to contact Poison Control or get medical help if swallowed.

Lip Therapy

Neosporin Lip Treatment may be used by adults and children over the age of 2. The treatment may be applied up to 3-4 times per day, but not more than that. It is not recommended for serious burns, bites, deep cuts, or puncture wounds, as stated on the package warnings. If a consumer of the product finds no relief after 7 days or if a lip condition gets worse during the use of Neosporin Lip Treatment, it is advised that a doctor be called.

The process of repairing sun-bitten or snow-chapped lips is fairly simple with Neosporin Lip Treatment. The small 1/4 ounce tube squeezes out a small amount of lip treatment to cover the lip area with a few smooth strokes. The size of the lip treatment tube can be deceiving, because a little really does go a long way with this product. It is not meant to be slathered on like a roller ball lip gloss.

The lip therapy provides an almost instant feeling of “moisturization” once applied, similar to the way a good face moisturizer will feel thick at first, but will be quickly absorbed without leaving any greasy residue. Neosporin Lip Treatment somewhat reminded me of Vaseline, but without the shininess and slickness on the lips.

My Lip Relief Experience

I am almost done with the Neosporin Lip Treatment therapy, as I sit here with one of the last applications on my newly smooth and moisturized lips. I purchased this product as a treatment approach that I would use only when my lips became quite dehydrated and dry. For the past few days I have noticed that my lips have recovered nicely and they actually do feel “fuller.” There was no need to use the product more than once in the morning and once before bed. There is an expiration date on the package that I need to check if I need lip relief treatment at a later date. My final thoughts about Neosporin Lip Treatment are that it works and that it seems to heal. My lips feel healthier than even before they became parched and dry from sunning without lip protection.

WARNING: Neosporin Lip Treatment may not transform your lips into Angelina Jolie’s, but for about $4.00 for the Neosporin Lip Treatment, a good lip liner and some eye catching lipstick, you might just be one step closer.
